2026 BIMS kicks off: Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, Honda e:N2, Mazda CX-6e, and more on display

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) has kicked off in Thailand with all pomp and show, unveiling a range of exciting new cars that are set to hit the market sooner or later.

    Toyota Land Cruiser FJ

    The smallest and most affordable model of the Land Cruiser lineup, the Land Cruiser FJ, has been launched at the Bangkok auto show. It is built on Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame platform and features a boxy, retro-inspired design, compact dimensions, and off-road agility. Under the bonnet lies a 2.7-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine tuned to make 166 PS and 245 Nm at 4,000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD system. The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is priced at THB 1,289,000 (approx RM 156k) in the Land of Smiles. 

    2026 Toyota Hilux Travo

    Global unveiled in November last year, the 2026 Toyota Hilux Travo and Travo-e EV are on display at the Bangkok show. The ninth-gen pick-up truck boasts a completely revamped look, a safe, and connected interior, and offers both internal combustion engine and battery electric vehicle drivetrain options, representing the automaker's push towards electrification in the pickup segment. 

    2026 Nissan Kicks e-Power facelift 

    The all-new Nissan Kicks e-Power facelift made its official debut at the show, featuring sharper styling, improved tech, and enhanced safety features, with the same EV-like hybrid driving system. 

    Mazda CX-6e

    The Mazda EZ-60, which made its official world debut at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, has arrived in Thailand as the Mazda CX-6e. Built on a platform developed in collaboration with Changan Mazda, the CX-6e is the SUV counterpart to the Mazda 6e sedan. It is powered by a rear electric motor tuned to deliver 258 PS and 290 Nm of torque, mated to a 78kWh battery, offering a cruising range of 484 km. 

    Honda e:N2

    Honda is stealing the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS), with the debut of the e:N2 electric SUV. Developed with Dongfeng Honda, the e:N2 is the rebadged version of the China-spec e:NS2. It runs on a single front-mounted electric motor producing 204 PS and 310 Nm, paired with a 68.8 kWh battery, which offers a driving range of 530 km (NEDC). Bookings for the EV are now underway in Thailand, with a starting price of THB 1.429 million (RM 171,200).

    2026 Lexus IS facelift

    The all-new Lexus IS facelift also made its ASEAN debut at the ongoing show, with updated design, improved interior tech, and enhanced driving dynamics. With a starting price of THB 2,799,000 (RM 338k), the compact luxury sedan is equipped with a 2.5-litre hybrid system, capable of generating a combined system output of 223 PS with an average fuel consumption of 18.52 kmpl.

    Ford Ranger Super Duty

    Ford is also one of the participating brands of the show, presenting the all-new Ranger Super Duty pickup truck. It is a work-focused, heavy-duty version of the Ranger, primarily designed for commercial and heavy-duty applications. Built on a reinforced chassis and suspension setup, it runs on a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine producing 250 PS of maximum power and 600 Nm of peak torque. With a gross weight of 4,500 kg, the Ranger Super Duty has a maximum payload capacity of 1,982 kg.
