Malaysia’s best-selling cars in 2025: A look at the top performers

Malaysia secured second place in total vehicle sales in the ASEAN region in 2024, with total industry volume of 816,747 units, representing a 2.1% hike over 2023. It was a milestone year, as the country surpassed the 8,00,000-unit mark for the very first time. Now, as we approach the end of 2025, it’s time to look at this year’s numbers.

The Malaysian automotive sector is forecast to reach a total industry volume (TIV) of 780,000 units by the end of 2025, according to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), representing a 4.5% decline from 2024. While 2024 was an exceptional year due to significant order backlogs and robust consumer activity, 2025 has seen a return to normal levels. The sector has shown a declining trend from the outset, primarily due to a cyclical downturn in the industry.

As of November 2025, more than 720,000 vehicles have already been sold in the country, and here we bring the top-performing cars that dominated Malaysian roads this year.

Perodua Bezza - 91,275 units 

Perodua Bezza continues to hold the crown of the top-selling car in Malaysia this year as well. A total of 91,275 units of this compact sedan have been sold from January to November, and with one month remaining, it is likely to reach the 100,000 mark on its own. 

Introduced in 2016 as Perodua's first sedan, the Bezza falls into the A-segment sedan category, which received a makeover in early 2020, taking its popularity to the next level. The car is offered in four variants - G MT, G AT, X, and AV, with the prices and specifications as follows:

First introduced in 2014, the Perodua Axia received a generation upgrade in 2023. This A-segment hatchback is offered in five variants - E, G, X, SE, and AV, with the prices and specifications as follows:

The next strong contender in the Malaysian car market is the Proton Saga, ranking fourth in the list with total sales of 63,650 units. Touted as Malaysia’s first homegrown vehicle, the Saga was introduced in 1985 and has been winning the hearts of consumers for the last 40 years. 

Proton introduced the all-new, reimagined avatar of the sedan in November 2025, featuring a refreshed design inside and out, enhanced tech, a more powerful engine, and advanced driver assistance systems. The new Proton Saga is offered in three variants -Standard, Executive, and Premium, with the prices and specifications as follows:

The fourth-gen Vios made its way to Malaysia in 2023, featuring a new Daihatsu New Global Architecture platform, significant styling and tech upgrades. Proton’s B-segment SUV, the X50, holds eighth spot in the 10 best-selling cars in Malaysia. The automaker sold a total of  24,298 units of this compact B-segment SUV in the first eleven months of the year. 

Proton introduced the heavily upgraded version of X50 in June 2025, with updated styling, more innovative tech, and a focus on appealing to a younger customer base. It is offered in three variants - Executive, Premium, and Flagship, with the prices and specifications as follows:
