Proton teased the arrival of its new electric SUV on its social media channels last week, with no official confirmation of specifications. However, the industry reports suggest the upcoming Proton e.MAS 7 may get a bigger battery pack (68.39 kWh), offering a slightly higher driving range of 475 km, up from 410 km (on the WLTP cycle), to address one of the biggest concerns among local EV customers. The new variant may get minor software updates or convenience features, enhancing the ownership experience.

However, Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Perodua president and CEO, earlier said that the existing Bezza may remain on sale till 2030, which means the wait for a new model may be longer.

Powering the upcoming Honda model is a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a two-motor hybrid system, delivering a combined output of 203 PS and 315 Nm and a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time of 8.2 seconds.
