Top 10 EV launches of 2025 in Malaysia: A look back
The electric vehicle market in Malaysia is gaining momentum, with sales jumping to 36,690 units (representing 91 % year-on-year growth) in the first eleven months of 2025. This growth has been driven by the arrival of new and exciting EVs and accelerated purchases ahead of CBU EV tax incentives expiring by the end of the year.

Perodua QV-E
The most important EV launch of the year was none other than the Perodua QV-E, touted as Malaysia’s first homegrown electric vehicle. Designed and developed in-house by Perodua, the QV-E is a part of P2's agenda to develop a sustainable EV ecosystem in the country.
Packed with a wide range of advanced systems, the Perodua QV-E is offered with a battery leasing model called 'Battery as a Service’, where the battery is leased separately from the car’s body, under a 9-year contract.

It is built on an aluminium monocoque chassis and debuts the brand’s iCARE safety system. iCAUR Malaysia also offers the special Black Phantom Edition of the SUV.
