Proton e.MAS 5

The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 gets a contemporary cabin. There are clean horizontal lines. The Slate Grey interior is by default. An Alabaster White option is reserved for the Premium model. Surfaces around the console and doors get textured plastics with contrast stitching and simple graphic inlays on door cards. Seats are upholstered in high-quality faux leather or leatherette across the line. Stitching is in slate or white colour themes depending on the model. A 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit running Proton’s ATLAS Auto dominates the dashboard. It supports the ‘Hi Proton’ voice command. There’s navigation support with an integrated live charging map. The car is linked to the Proton e.MAS mobile app for remote functions like vehicle pre-conditioning, battery status, scheduled charging and more. The car gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The Prime model gets manual air-conditioning. Both models get rear air vents for passengers. In-cabin storage is sensible with a 70-litre frunk and 375-litre boot space.

The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 measures 4,135 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height. The car has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm.  The front gets a closed-off fascia, typical of EVs. It lends the car a more minimalist face. There’s the signature Proton ‘tiger’ badge upfront. The top-level model gets all around LED lighting. The headlight clusters are sleek and swept-back. At the corners of the front bumper, the car gets vertical chrome trims. The overall front appearance is clean and uncluttered. On the sides, the wheel arches and side panels present a smooth surface with modest character lines. The Premium model gets two-tone roof option. The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 runs on 16-inch alloy wheels that get a geometric D-pad turbine-inspired design. On the C-pillar, subtle celestial-themed motifs are applied. At the back, the hatchback’s design is conventional but well proportioned. The tailgate is fairly upright. The taillights are slim and stretch horizontally across the rear corners. The premium model gets a powered tailgate. The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 avoids a full-width LED light bar that’s a current trend among most EVs.

The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 offers nice seat comfort and ride smoothness. The cabin is spacious and has generous headroom and legroom. The car is mounted on a MacPherson-strut front and multi-link independent rear suspension setup. The system has been tuned to offer a soft and supple ride that absorbs regular bumps and potholes. It offers good noise suppression. Handling is nimble, courtesy the rear-wheel-drive layout. The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 has a tight turning radius of 4.95m with well-controlled body motion. The steering wheel is accurate but somewhat muted in feel. Long-haul comfort on the rear seats may be less ideal because of the slightly upright seating position.

The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 is hauled by a single rear-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor The Premium variant produces 116 PS/150 Nm. The entry-level Prime variant produces 79 PS/130 Nm.  The latter is powered by a 30.12 kWh battery. The Premium model uses a 40.16 kWh battery. The claimed range is 325 km and 225 km for the Premium and Prime respectively. On city roads, the car outputs agile and quiet performance. On highways it remains composed.

The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 comes with a strong mix of passive protections and advanced driver-assist technology. It’s equipped with a full 360-degree camera system with 3D display that practically eliminates all blind spots. Radar and sensor-based systems underpin the driver-assist suite that includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning, door-opening warning, and rear-cross-traffic alert. The 2025 Proton e.MAS 5 comes with six airbags.
