Zeekr 7X Black Nova now on sale in Malaysia at RM235,000, limited to 200 units
KUALA LUMPUR: Zeekr Malaysia has put a limited run of blacked-out 7X SUVs on sale, and it is worth being upfront about what this actually is.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much is the Zeekr 7X Black Nova in Malaysia?
RM235,000. That is RM4,200 more than the Zeekr 7X AWD Performance it is based on, which lists at RM230,800.What is different about the Zeekr 7X Black Nova?
An all-black exterior finish, new 20-inch black alloy wheels, and a black and grey two-tone interior that Zeekr says is a first for the 7X in Malaysia. Nothing mechanical changes. The Zeekr 7X Black Nova is not a new variant, not a hotter version, and not a mechanical update. It is a colour and trim package sitting on top of the existing 7X AWD Performance, capped at 200 units nationwide and priced at RM235,000.
Zeekr is running it under the tagline "Singular Shade, Rarely Yours", which tells you roughly everything about the intended pitch. Strip the campaign language away and the deal is simple enough: all-black bodywork, new 20-inch black alloys, and a black and grey two-tone cabin that Zeekr says has not been offered on the 7X in Malaysia before. That interior combination is the one genuinely new item on the list. Everything else is a shade swap.

The Black Nova is offered only on the AWD Performance, which is the top of the 7X range. Nothing under the skin changes. The dual-motor setup still puts out up to 475 kW, or 646 PS, and Zeekr quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The 800V architecture is unchanged too, with a claimed 10 to 80 percent DC charge in as little as 16 minutes.
Zeekr's release quotes up to 615 km WLTP, but we think that belongs to the RWD Long Range rather than this car. If we are not wrong, the AWD Performance, and therefore the Black Nova, is rated at 543 km on the same 100 kWh battery. If range matters more to you than the 3.8 seconds, this is not the 7X you want.
Equipment carries over wholesale from the AWD Performance: the Stargate integrated smart light curtain, the ADAS suite, 720-degree safety protection, Magic Carpet suspension, the Zeekr Sound Pro audio system, frameless automatic doors, Nappa full-grain leather seats, and ventilated and massaging front seats.
Ownership terms are also unchanged, with a five-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty on the high-voltage battery and components, and a year of connected services with 6GB of data a month.
The 7X has been the brand's volume seller here. Zeekr Malaysia says the model recorded 3,235 cumulative deliveries in its first year, and describes it as the best-selling premium electric SUV in the country and Zeekr as the number one premium EV brand locally.
Eddy Lu, General Manager of Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia, put it this way:
"The overwhelming success of the Zeekr 7X has been a key driver behind Zeekr's pole position as the No. 1 Premium EV brand in Malaysia as well as our recent 5,000 vehicle delivery milestone. With the introduction of the Zeekr 7X Black Nova, we are offering customers the exclusive opportunity to own the popular model but with a limited-edition monochromatic design language that reflects bold individuality and exclusivity, without compromising on the sophisticated luxury, advanced technology, driving performance, and premium ownership experience that has made the Zeekr 7X one of Malaysia's most desirable premium electric vehicles."
At RM235,000, the Black Nova's closest rival is its own sibling. The 7X AWD Performance is RM230,800, which makes the premium for the paint, the black wheels, the two-tone cabin and the 200-unit ceiling exactly RM4,200. Whether that is worth it depends entirely on how much you care about not seeing your own car in the next parking bay.
Outside the Zeekr showroom, the 7X has always been benchmarked against the Tesla Model Y and the BYD Sealion 7. The Model Y range in Malaysia tops out at RM263,000 for the six-seat L Premium, which makes 456 hp and cannot get near the Zeekr on pace.
Tesla does not sell a Model Y Performance here. So on ringgit per horsepower, the Black Nova is genuinely hard to argue with, which is roughly what you would expect from a Chinese EV against a Tesla in 2026.
Choosing the AWD Performance costs you range. The RWD Long Range does 615 km WLTP on the same 100 kWh battery, while the AWD Performance, and therefore the Black Nova, is rated at 543 km.
That is 72 km given up for the front motor and the 3.8-second sprint. Malaysian buyers doing regular KL to Penang runs should think about which of those two numbers they will actually use more often.
The Zeekr 7X Black Nova is on sale in Malaysia now through authorised Zeekr showrooms, limited to 200 units.
