Honda Malaysia hosts a special appreciation event for first 3 Prelude owners

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia officially launched the all-new sixth-generation Prelude at the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show, with customer deliveries beginning in July. The company has now organised a special appreciation event for the first three owners of the iconic sports coupe.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much does the Honda Prelude cost?

The Honda Prelude is priced at RM 278,000 (on the road without insurance) in Malaysia.
  • What makes the Honda Prelude special?

The Prelude is a grand tourer that prioritises refined, comfortable long-distance driving while still offering genuine driving engagement when you want it, particularly with the S+ Shift system activated.
  • The three owners, Mr. Gan Ker Beng, Mr. Wahiduzaman Bin Abu Kashim, and Dr. Davina Navreet Kaur, although coming from diverse backgrounds, share a common appreciation for the Prelude’s legendary character and refined driving experience. Each of them was drawn to the coupe for a different reason.

Gan fulfilled a dream of nearly 30 years

Mr.Gan is an entrepreneur from Johor Bahru who has a long history with Honda and completed its nearly three-decade desire to own a Prelude. “I have a long history with Honda. My first Honda was a Civic back in the 1990s, and at that time, I already had my eyes on the Prelude. It was my dream car when I was younger, but I could not afford one then. So, when Honda announced the return of the Prelude to Malaysia, I knew I wanted to own one,” he said.

More than the vehicle’s performance figures, what matters to him is the Prelude name and the memories he has with it.

Wahiduzaman loves its balance of driving enjoyment and everyday comfort

Mr. Wahiduzaman is a business owner from Kuala Lumpur who has owned several Honda performance models over the years. “I have been a Honda owner for many years, and I have always enjoyed their performance-oriented character and the adventures we had on the road. As my lifestyle evolved, I was looking for a car that strikes the perfect balance between driving enjoyment and everyday comfort, and the Prelude has that,” he said.

“What has always drawn me to Honda is its attention to detail and how its engineers design cars that feel like an extension of the driver, and when I test-drove the Prelude, I truly felt its driver-focused character and uncompromised comfort. I can’t wait to start this exciting new chapter with my Prelude,” he added.

Davina turned a childhood admiration into reality

Davina, on the other hand, is a first-time Honda owner who has admired earlier versions of the coupe while growing up and dreamed of owning a red one.

“Growing up, I would always see a couple of classic Preludes in my Subang neighbourhood, admiring them from afar. Owning a red coupe has also been a dream of mine since I was a teenager, and as a huge fan of Honda’s hybrid technology, the moment the Prelude was launched, I immediately fell in love with it and placed a booking right away, without test driving it. This car doesn’t need to shout its presence, as its stance is effortless and it carries a quiet sophistication that aligns perfectly with who I am. It has a self-assured quality about it, giving me a sense of having arrived on my own terms, which resonates very much with my own personal journey,” she said.

As a quick recap, the Honda Prelude is offered in a single variant in Malaysia, priced at RM 278,000. It can be best described as a grand tourer that prioritises refined, comfortable long-distance driving while offering genuine driving engagement.

At its core lies a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a two-motor hybrid system, churning out a combined output of 203 PS and 315 Nm and a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time of 8.2 seconds. It comes with Honda-first ‘S+ Shift control’ function that makes the driving experience more sporty and engaging.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Narushi Yazaki, said, “The return of the iconic All-New Prelude is a declaration of Hondaʼs spirit. We are honoured to celebrate this special occasion with our owners, whose appreciation for the Prelude reflects the strong connection between Honda and our customers. Each of them has a unique story that led them to the All-New Prelude. We sincerely thank our customers for placing their trust in Honda Malaysia and look forward to accompanying them as they create unforgettable memories with the All-New Prelude.”
