KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the price of the BYD Seal 6 in Malaysia?
The BYD Seal 6 starts from RM100,000 for the Dynamic variant and RM115,800 for the Premium variant, making it one of the most affordable long-range EV sedans in Malaysia. How is the BYD Seal 6 different from the regular BYD Seal?
The Seal 6 is a C-segment sedan, closer in size to the Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla Altis. It focuses on affordability, comfort, and practicality. The regular BYD Seal, on the other hand, is a D-segment fastback with more power, more advanced tech, and a higher starting price of RM171,800.Priced at RM100,000 for the Dynamic variant and RM115,800 for the Premium variant, the Seal 6 makes its international debut here in Malaysia, highlighting just how important our market has become for BYD’s global expansion.

Meanwhile, buyers staying in high-rise residences or relying on public charging will instead receive Sime's Platinum 4+package by Power up, 12 months doorstep charging programme worth RM5,000. Although its name suggests it’s just another version of the Seal, the Seal 6 is a completely different product. Based on the Qin L EV, it sits in the C-segment — closer in size to the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis, and in EV terms, targeting the Tesla Model 3 RWD and Hyundai Ioniq 6 Lite.

That makes the Seal 6 the more accessible, family-friendly choice, while still carrying BYD’s signature mix of strong range and technology.

BYD claims a CLTC-rated range of up to 545 km, depending on conditions. DC fast charging at 100 kW takes the battery from 30% to 80% in just 23 minutes, while the smaller 12V LFP auxiliary battery replaces the traditional lead-acid unit, reducing weight and improving efficiency.

The Seal 6 is one of the largest sedans in its class:
-
Length: 4,720 mm (longest in C-segment)
-
Wheelbase: 2,820 mm (longest in C-segment)
-
Height: 1,495 mm (tallest in class)
-
Width: 1,860 mm (widest in class)
Boot space measures 460 litres, complemented by a 65-litre frunk (front trunk) — waterproof and big enough for a 20-inch carry-on suitcase. Inside, BYD has packed in 24 storage compartments, from cupholders and hooks to document pockets and an armrest with dual holders.
Ride & Handling – Comfort tuned for Malaysia
One of the Seal 6’s strongest selling points is its ride comfort, and the engineering slides BYD shared give us a good idea why. The car uses a “golden combination” of front and rear suspension: a dual-ball MacPherson strut setup in front for fast response, paired with a rear five-link suspension that decouples wheel movement and absorbs shocks more effectively.
This balance allows the Seal 6 to achieve better handling stability while still ironing out bumps, something you’ll appreciate on Malaysia’s patchy road surfaces.
The Seal 6 also benefits from its rear-wheel drive layout, which naturally distributes weight more evenly and reduces the tendency for the front end to dive under braking or lift under hard acceleration.
BYD’s internal tests show the Seal 6 scoring in the “excellent” band for both acceleration lift (1.91) and braking dive (1.09), translating to less body movement and a calmer cabin for passengers.
More importantly for us, BYD confirmed that the Seal 6’s suspension tuning has been adapted specifically for Malaysian roads and driving styles. This means adjustments were made to damping, rebound, and steering feel with our unique mix of highways, city potholes, and uneven rural stretches in mind.
In short, it’s not just a direct import setup from China — the Seal 6 here has been fine-tuned to give Malaysian drivers and passengers the blend of stability, smoothness, and comfort they actually need.

The Seal 6 uses cell-to-body (CTB) construction, delivering 31,167 Nm/degree torsional rigidity, which contributes to crash protection and ride stability. Safety kit includes:
-
Six airbags as standard
-
Forward Collision Warning & AEB
-
Stop-Go Adaptive Cruise Control
-
Lane Departure Warning
-
360-degree camera
-
ABS, ESC, TCS, Hill Start Assist, EPB
Comfort and Cabin
Inside, the Seal 6 takes a practical yet premium approach. A 12.8-inch infotainment screen (non-rotatable to portrait or landscape) and 8.8-inch digital cluster dominate the dashboard, with support for voice control in English, Malay, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Passenger comfort is a highlight, with ergonomic seats offering lateral support, a spacious rear cabin with flat floor, and a panoramic roof (Premium variant). Feedback from early adopters in China points to ride comfort as one of the car’s most praised features.
With prices starting at RM100,000, the BYD Seal 6 undercuts rivals while still offering impressive range, safety, and practicality. For those who find the Seal too premium or too powerful, the Seal 6 is a compelling alternative — one that emphasises space, comfort, and value without losing the EV advantages BYD is known for.
Photo by Adam AubreyWhat you get in the Premium vs Dynamic
Choosing between the BYD Seal 6 Dynamic and the Premium really comes down to how much performance and comfort you want on top of the essentials.
-
Performance Upgrade
The Premium’s motor makes 160 kW and 330 Nm, a big jump over the Dynamic’s 95 kW and 220 Nm. That means a 0–100 km/h sprint of 7.5 seconds versus the Dynamic’s 10.9 seconds. Both share the same 56.64 kWh Blade Battery and 485 km NEDC range, but the Premium feels more powerful on the road. -
Wheels and Presence
Premium rides on 18-inch alloys (225/50 R18) while the Dynamic gets 17-inch wheels (225/55 R17). The larger wheels give the Premium a sportier stance but may trade off a little ride comfort. -
Interior Comforts
Inside, the Premium adds ventilated 8-way powered driver’s seat, powered passenger seat with ventilation, and auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Dynamic makes do with a 6-way powered driver’s seat and manual passenger adjustments. -
Tech and Convenience
Both variants come with a 12.8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and full ADAS suite, but the Premium gets 8 speakers (vs 6), wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and rain-sensing wipers. -
Safety
No difference here – both offer 6 airbags, AEB, Adaptive Cruise with Stop & Go, 360° camera, ESC, and TPMS.
In short, the Dynamic covers the basics really well with full safety and EV tech, while the Premium layers on extra power, luxury, and nicer cabin touches for those who want more style and comfort in daily use.
