2026 Proton Saga engine and transmission

The new mill generates a maximum power of 120 PS at 6,100 rpm and a peak torque of 150 Nm between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm. Compared to the outgoing model, it is 25 PS more powerful and delivers 30 Nm more torque.

As for transmission, there are two options - the Standard and Executive variants come with a four-speed automatic gearbox, whereas the top-spec Premium variant gets a Continuously Variable Transmission.

Speaking of the new Proton Saga fuel efficiency, the automaker claims that the new mechanical setup is 14.04% more fuel efficient and provides a fuel consumption rating as low as 4.9 litres per 100 km (20.4 kmpl) on the Malaysian Driving Cycle.

    2026 Proton Saga safety

Based on Proton’s reinforced safety structure with hot-press formed components, the new Saga offers superior rigidity and protection. In terms of safety features, it sees a big upgrade with six airbags (two as standard) and Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance System (exclusive to the Premium model). The latter comprises -
