Toyota Malaysia Pickle Tour 2026: five-city pickleball series with RM175,000 up for grabs

KUALA LUMPUR: Pickleball has gone from a niche curiosity to one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and Toyota wants a piece of the action.

UMW Toyota Motor has confirmed the Toyota Malaysia Pickle Tour 2026, a five-stop series running across Sarawak, Sabah, Johor, Penang and the Klang Valley, with a total prize pool of RM175,000 on the line.

The catch is in the format. The tour runs under the tagline "Solo Entry. Team Glory.", which means you sign up alone and the organiser groups you into a team. You don't pick your teammates. That's the whole point.

Toyota is leaning on the idea that random grouping forces players to gel quickly and turns a solo sign-up into a shared effort. Whether that works in your favour or not depends on who you get drawn with, but it does keep things interesting.

On the corporate side, Toyota frames the whole thing around its "Mobility for All" and "Producing Happiness for All" messaging.

The Toyota Malaysia Pickle Tour 2026 gives this belief a strong community expression, with a five-stop footprint that reaches players and families across both East and West Malaysia. By taking pickleball beyond a single centre of activity, we hope to open the court to more Malaysians and create an experience built on confidence, team spirit and the shared happiness of playing together," said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.

The tour is open to Malaysians aged 7 and above, so both junior and adult players can enter. Here's where and when it lands:

 

If competing isn't your thing, each stop will also run open play sessions and pickleball clinics for beginners or anyone who just wants to have a go without the pressure of a bracket.

It's aimed at families and players of different ages who want in without committing to the competitive side.

Cash and medals go to the top 10 at every location. The breakdown looks like this:

• Champion: RM10,000 + gold medal
• 2nd place: RM8,000 + silver medal
• 3rd place: RM6,000 + bronze medal
• 4th place: RM4,000 + participation medal
• 5th place: RM2,000 + participation medal
• 6th to 10th place: RM1,000 + participation medal each
