Hyundai releases details about Ioniq facelift
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai has revealed details of the Ioniq facelift, which will be available in full electric (Electric), hybrid (Hybrid), and plug-in hybrid (Plug-in) powertrain options. The facelifted model will get some design changes, and the powertrains are updated along with some new styling.
Both the Hybrid and Plug-in variants are equipped with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder Kappa Atkinson-cycle petrol mill, which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 105 PS, while the peak torque is 147 Nm. It is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The electric motors, which are provided along with the engine are different in both the variants. The Hybrid version’s motor produces a maximum power of 43.5 PS along with a peak torque of 170 Nm. It is powered with a 1.56 kWh lithium-ion battery. On the other hand, the Plug-in variant’s electric motor pushes out a maximum power of 60.5 PS and a maximum torque of 170 Nm. An 8.9 kWh Li-ion battery is also provided to charge the powertrain.
Though the Hybrid and Plug-in variants have different electric motors, the overall power output of the system is the same as 141 PS and 265 Nm. However, the motor in the Electric variant is more powerful at 136 PS and 295 Nm. Moreover, the Electric variant is equipped with a 38.3 kWh battery, which is larger than before. The variant is capable of delivering a driving range of 294 km.
The Hybrid and Plug-in models are fitted with a new mesh-type radiator grille. While the Electric model features closed grille, which gets a distinctive pattern. Apart from the updates in the grille’s style, the LED headlamps and DRLs also get a new design. The front bumper’s bottom section features a silver-colored moulding, while as for the rear bumper moulding, anthracite-colored sections are present.
The European-spec Hyundai Ioniq facelift will get four new exterior color options. Electric Shadow, Fluidic Metal, Typhoon Silver and Liquid Sand are the added color options.
Getting inside the car, there is a 10.25-inch AVN system, which is supported by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Two phones can be connected to the system via Bluetooth. The Electric variant comes with a seven-inch LCD display as standard, while it is optional for the Hybrid and Plug-in variants.
