Selangor cops strictly on enforcing movement control order
KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor police is making a conscious appeal to the public to cooperate and handle the gruesome situation maturely. Malaysians government has imposed a Movement Control Order (MCO), to curb the movement of the public to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The world is currently facing a severe pandemic and in light of the gravity of current circumstances, such measures are necessary to safeguard public health and safety. The public should follow the orders made under Section 342 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Selangor Police is undertaking all possible actions to monitor the situation and overseeing all aspects of security. Cops are totally committed on enforcing the control order throughout its duration from March 18 until March 31. Selangor CID chief said that his Assistant Commissioner Zaldino Zaludin from intelligence-led the operations from March 18. The initial phase of monitoring is to check whether the public is adhering to the control order and to oversee if any strict control is further required.
Cops began with the operations on March 18 at around 6pm with a bunch 27 officers and 81 personnel team involved in conducting roadblocks and checks on business premises along with public areas around Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya regions.
Selangor police have advised the public to refrain from social activities and practice social distancing throughout the movement control order (MCO) period. By far, this is the most effective way to control the spread of Coronavirus. The State Deputy Police Chief has also appealed to the public to curb all forms of social activities and all outdoor movements must be ceased. He also said that unless it is an emergency, people should avoid going to public places and avoid attending any ceremonies involved public gatherings during this period of Movement Control Order.
The Kuala Lumpur police chief said that the police personnel and officers advised the public to stay at home except if they are engaged in essential services.
Bukit Jalil deputy police station chief Sub Inspector Raja Zamani Raja Zainal made the following announcement at the Talhah Ubaidillah Mosque that "this initiative is being used at mosques in Cheras to advise the public to stay in their homes and refrain from social gatherings or going outside unless it is an emergency. Our personnel in patrols cars also started with a series of announcements to advise the public to stay indoors and adding that roadblocks were also set up to ensure people were not going out unnecessarily."
Let us hope that all such measures can help curb the spread of the deadly virus and make situations better, if not completely eradicate it.
