BYD’s Atto 3 electric SUV receives updates for 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: BYD, known for its eco-conscious vehicles, has introduced the upgraded version of its best-selling electric SUV, the Atto 3. The refreshed model hosts a number of enhancements aimed at elevating the driving experience and attracting a larger customer base. It was recently unveiled for the key right-hand drive markets such as Japan and Singapore.

Let’s know the BYD Atto 3 updates in detail, starting with the exterior.

Notable changes to the exterior of the BYD Atto 3 include the replacement of the previous "Build Your Dreams" lettering with the concise "BYD" insignia and the transition of the D-pillars' metallic grey finish to a bold black "dragon scales" pattern. The EV also benefits from a new pair of Continental Eco Contact 6 tyres (235/50R18) and a thicker sunroof shade.

Furthermore, the colour palette gets a new Cosmos Black option in addition to existing Surf Blue, Forest Green, Parkour Red, Boulder Grey, and Ski White shades. With the new Cosmos Black exterior hue, the automaker offers a darker two-tone interior, with dark blue and black upholstery.

The cabin also gains a new 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display, which replaced the older 12.8-inch unit. Despite its larger dimensions, the screen retains its rotatable functionality, enabling seamless transitions between horizontal and vertical orientations. The updated screen supports the BYD app store, Amazon Music, a web browser, a karaoke function, expanded voice recognition software, and interior ambient lighting.

No updates are there on the drivetrain front. That means the Atto 3 continues to run on the same single motor setup that is tuned to generate 201 PS of maximum power and 310 Nm of peak torque. The motor is fed by the same 60.48-kWh battery pack offering a WLTP-claimed driving range of 420 km on a single charge. 

Pricing for the new BYD Atto 3 range is yet to be announced.
