2019 WMoto Cub Classic hits Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2019 WMoto Cub Classic, the latest entry to the kapcai market in Malaysia. It is seen as a modern take on the classic step-through cub, with some latest conveniences. Underbone bikes are among the fastest growing two-wheelers in the South East Asian markets.

The 2019 WMoto Cub is priced at RM 4,588 without registration, road tax, and insurance. The vehicle is powered by a 109.22 cc air-cooled single-cylinder SOHC motor which is paired with a four-speed rotary transmission system. The engine produces 6.4 hp at 7000 rpm while the peak torque output is 8 Nm at 5000rpm. A classic carburetor-controlled fuel delivery system feeds the motor, though WMoto claims that the engine is compliant to Euro 3 emission norms.

The new two-wheeler is designed with traditional kapcai aesthetics. However, the 2019 Cub Classic is equipped with modern features that include LED lighting, both in the front and back, and a USB socket for charging mobile phones and similar gadgets. The instrument panel on the vehicle has colored lighting. The rear and front drum brakes handle the braking duties. Also, the cub is fitted with an upside-down fork suspension in the front and preload adjustable twin shock absorbers at the back. Ignition to the bike is through an electric-start mode, while it also has a kick starter.

A significant convenience for the rider is the parcel rack mounted on the front mudguard. The utility kapcai also has a cargo basket and a hook below the handlebars. The rear seat of the 2019 WMoto Cub Classic can be removed completely. This will come handy for small businesses as removing the rear seat reveals a cargo hold for carrying goods over a short distance.

The Cub Classic is fitted with 17-inch wheels. It has a dry weight of 100 kg. The fuel tank has a carrying capacity of four litres and is positioned right below the rider’s seat. The 2019 WMoto Cub Classic is available in three matte colors: black, green, and red. The two-wheeler will be distributed in Malaysia through MForce Bike holdings. It comes with a 20,000 km or two-year manufacturing warranty as a standard warranty.
