2025 Modenas Elegan EX up for grabs in Malaysia; check key highlights

KUALA LUMPUR: MODENAS, a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad, has launched the all-new Elegan EX in Malaysia. The new maxi-scooter features enhanced styling and modern features, offering an elevated riding experience to riders.

Price

The 2025 Modenas Elegan EX is priced at RM 17,780 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration). Compared to the outgoing model, the price sees a hike of RM 703.

Colours 

The upgraded scooter comes in two new premium colours - Deep Blue and Plain Grey, making it look modern and sophisticated.

Design and features 

The new Elegan EX hosts several refinements for a more premium appearance and enhanced functionality. Key changes include - 

• A sportier windscreen enhancing aesthetics and aerodynamics
• New LED front indicators for better visibility and improved energy efficiency
• New Modenas logo on key components such as the windscreen, handle cover, rear fender, speedometer, and ignition key

The scooter features an aggressive projector headlight with LED DRL along with a unique "X" shaped tail light, adding to its futuristic and stylish appearance. Ensuring riding comfort during long drives is an ergonomic seat for both the rider and pillion.

Further making the Elegan EX an excellent choice are advanced features like a multi-function speedometer that offers a clear display with a centre section for additional information. A USB charging port is available near the handlebar so riders can easily charge their digital devices on the go.

Engine 

The scooter runs on a Euro4-compliant 250-cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-stroke SOHC engine generating a maximum power of 22.4 hp at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 22.4 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a CVT gearbox and belt drive.

The CVT gearbox offers seamless acceleration and makes the Elegan EX a versatile choice for both city commutes and highway cruising. It comes equipped with a 14-litre fuel tank that provides excellent mileage, ideal for long-distance travel.

Dimensions

Based on an underbone frame, the scooter measures 2,235 mm in length. 810 mm in width, and 1,375 mm in height. It rides on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels wrapped with 120/80 and 150/70 tyres, respectively. The Elegan EX tips the scale at 198 kg. 

Suspension and braking

The new Modenas bike comes kitted with telescopic forks at the front and twin rear shock absorbers at the rear; the setup provides adequate road stability and comfort on the road. 

Handling the braking setup are 260 mm front and 240 mm rear hydraulic disc brakes. As for superior braking performance and enhanced rider safety, the premium Elegan EX is equipped with a Bosch dual-channel ABS.
