Kawasaki Ninja 125 and Z125 video teased
KUALA LUMPUR: Kawasaki is set to bring the two small displacement beasts at the Intermot show in Germany. However, these two motorcycles, the Ninja 125 and the Z125, have been teased in a video ahead of their official introduction.
Aesthetically, the baby Ninja 125 is the fully-faired sports motorcycle while the Z125 continues to be the true naked sports model. The motorcycles will ride on 17-inch wheels at both ends with 100-section front and 130-section rear tyres. The Ninja, just like the elder sibling, has the same low 785 mm seat height which is apt for any novice rider. However, the naked Z125 has a high 815 mm saddle, which may not be quite comfortable for the beginners to get a flat foot on the ground.
There are single hydraulic disc brakes at both the ends. Plus, despite having the full-faired body, the trellis tube frame has enabled the company to keep the weight down to just around 110 kgs. And as far as we could see in the video teaser, the instrument console is an LCD unit in monochrome.
Some details of the two motorcycles are available on the official website. However, having said that, the power output might be around 15 PS. The Malaysia market presently has the Ninja 250 and Z250 as the smallest displacement models. The total power production in both the models is of 32 PS of power at 11,000 rpm and 21 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. Power is sent down to the wheels via a 6-speed gearbox.
Kawasaki’s presence in the very small displacement motorcycle segment with two of the most popular series (Ninja and Z) proves how much faith it has in its own vehicles. Plus, 125 cc motorcycles are required in the European market for the beginners.
