Suzuki officially reveals all-new Bandit 150 at GIIAS 2018

KUALA LUMPUR: Suzuki’s all-new Bandit 150 has been officially unveiled at the GIIAS 2018. This model has been showcased after last year’s GSX-S150, both of which share the same chassis. However, Suzuki has aimed this particular model more towards utility and hence, it misses the athletic design we see on the GSX-S150. Just like in most of the countries in Asia, in Malaysia too, this bike will battle against quite a good number of competitors in the 150-cc segment.

The Bandit 150 features an attractive all-LED headlamp, tail lamps, and indicators with single piece handlebars. The front wheel is suspended over telescopic fork with a new fender. The foot pegs are situated towards the middle and the sitting position is straight up, which makes for comfortable ergonomics. It also boasts a fully-digital control and instrument cluster as well as a robust fuel tank. The seat is a single piece unit with a nice curvature and with a reduced rear height, much like most of the commuters these days. The alloy wheels are coated in black and there is an engine guard like most of its rivals. The Suzuki Bandit 150 is built for comfort rather than agile handling and comes with adjustable rear mono suspension.

The Bandit 150 model shares the same engine as the GSX-S150, which is a 147.33 cc liquid cooled, single cylindrical engine. It is capable of delivering 19 hp of power at 10,500 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 9,000 RPM. This model also shares the GSX-S150’s 6-speed unit gearbox and has a linear output delivery throughout the rev range and gears. The Bandit 150 is expected to be highly fuel efficient. Both the wheels have disc brakes. However, Suzuki might not offer ABS as standard.

The Bandit 150 will go on sale in the Indonesian market later this month. In the market, it will be a direct competitor to the Yamaha FZ150 and similar ones. However, in terms of the power production, it could still be the fastest bike in the segment. Yes, in order to make it more of a commuter-biased model, the engine may be a little tweaked.
