Suzuki Malaysia promotes safe riding with AMI-Suzuki Road Safety Campaign 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: Safety is paramount when riding a bike, as two-wheeler riders are most vulnerable to severe incident injuries. With this in mind, Suzuki Malaysia has recently launched the AMI-Suzuki Road Safety Campaign 2025 in collaboration with the Malaysian Motorcycle and Scooter Dealers Association (MMSDA).

Key highlights of the AMI-Suzuki Road Safety Campaign 2025 -
- The campaign, “Share the Road, Ride Wisely,” was launched at Dataran Ilmu, Selayang Stadium, on January 14, 2025.
- It is the second safety event by Suzuki Malaysia and the eighth by AFY Mobility Industries (AMI).
- The campaign aims to raise awareness about road safety among motorcyclists, drivers, and the public.
- It features several engaging activities such as - free motorcycle inspections by certified Suzuki Malaysia mechanics and the distribution of 400 new helmets to riders.
- Not only adults’ safety, but the campaign also promotes the well-being of young passengers by offering children’s helmets for free.
- The exhibition also showcased motorcycles and safety accessories.

While officiating the campaign, Yang Berhormat Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah, Deputy Minister of Transport of Malaysia, highlighted the alarming road accident statistics.
“Based on the latest statistics from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), a total of 5,939 deaths were recorded from 585,729 accident cases reported up to November 2024. Of this total, 67% or 4,014 deaths involved motorcycle riders and pillion riders, with the majority consisting of youths aged 16 to 35 years. This group is now the largest contributor to the number of deaths due to road accidents,” he stated.

He reiterated that the Ministry of Transport Malaysia is continuously addressing this challenge and improving road safety for all users. However, the basic step important to ensure safety is having a valid driver's license for motorcyclists.
The Executive Chairman of Suzuki Malaysia, Yang Berbahagia En. Ahmad Faez Bin Tan Sri Yahaya also highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting road safety initiatives and ensuring the well-being of all road users.
