Perodua to reimburse 3,100 customers due to Myvi production halt

KUALA LUMPUR: Earlier this month on August 20, Perodua announced the suspension of Myvi production due to a supply disruption at one of its outlets. Though the production halt was temporary, a total of 3,100 customers were not able to book their model and capitalize on the zero-GST prices.

It was said that the buyers who booked Perodua Myvi before September 1 would be levied of taxes, including GST and reintroduced sales and service tax (SST). However, due to discontinued production, the customers were not allowed to book new Myvi.

The automaker, on the whole incident, has said that a total of 3,100 identified customers will be reimbursed with a cash amount who were supposed to receive their Myvi before Sep 1.

Datuk Dr Zahari Husin, the MD Perodua Sales said, “Our authorised personnel will be contacting each and every one of those customers who booked Myvis that were supposed to be registered before September 1 to capitalise on the zero-GST tax holiday prices.”

He added by saying, “We wish to offer our valued customers a cash rebate upon registration of their vehicles, as compensation for the considerable inconvenience caused to them. In the meantime, we will keep them updated on their Myvi delivery times.”

He also apologized to the ones whose order requests could not be fulfilled and said that the company was trying every bit to resume Myvi production as soon as possible. In the end, he concluded by saying, “We sincerely apologise to not just those whose orders could not be fulfilled before the SST reintroduction, but each and every single customer who has booked our new Myvi after them, as this production disruption will evidently delay deliveries of Myvis ordered more recently.”
