Subaru to recall vehicles globally for faulty MID and valve springs
KUALA LUMPUR: Subaru, the Japanese automobile manufacturer, has announced to call back two separate batches of its vehicles. The recall is done to replace faulty multi-info display and valve springs, in the particular set of cars. Motor Image, the official distributor of Subaru cars in Malaysia announced that a notification would be sent soon to the customers who own the affected vehicle. The faulty parts then will be replaced for free.
The vehicles manufactured between 16th January 2012 to the 14th May 2013 may contain defective valve springs. To be specific, the models that comprise the FB20 boxer or FA20 boxer engines, including 2012-2014 MY Forester, 2012-2014 MY Impreza/XV, 2013 MY BRZ and 2013-2014 MY Legacy/Outback may be affected.
The doubtful engines may contain faulty valve springs, which may fracture due to high loads. It can result in other issues like abnormal noise from the engine or engine stalling. Sometimes, the motor may fail to restart as well. To avoid these issues the faulty valve spring needs to be replaced.
The second issue is related to faulty multi-info display. Only the 2018 MY Legacy/Outback models manufactured before 1st August will be recalled. As per the manufacturer, there might be a programming issue, resulting in an inaccurate display of remaining range and fuel.
