2019 Yamaha R125 unveiled with a brand new engine
KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha has launched the brand-new 2019 R125, which is pretty similar to the Yamaha R15 V3. The new two-wheeler gets some updates along with a new powerful engine, which now comes with a new feature called Variable Valve Actuation (VVA).
The Variable Valve Actuation is an essential component of the Yamaha R125’s powerful engine. It helps to enhance the top-end performance as well as the lower-end grunt of the bike. VVA also assists the bike while overtaking or to cover up a long distance in less time by providing a little bit of extra power. An all-digital instrument console is provided that measures the speeds of the two-wheeler.
The motorbike derives the power from a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 125cc, fuel-injected engine, which is capable of pushing out a maximum of 14.9 PS of power along with a peak torque of 12.4 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission that sends down the power to the rear wheels. However, the 6-speed transmission is like gold dust in the 125cc space. It helps to enhance the top-speed of the motorcycle. In addition, the Yamaha R125 comes with a slipper clutch, which allows the bike to invalidate the wheel hops, which occurs at the time of downshifts.
A new Deltabox frame has been added at the core, and some modifications have also been made to get better riding dynamics. A shorter and lighter aluminum swingarm is attached to the R125. 41mm upside-down forks at the front and monoshock at the rear manage the suspension duties.
The new Yamaha R125 will come in the international markets during the first half of the next year. The manufacturer mainly designed the two-wheeler for the A1-A2 license holders in the European market. However, no words have been received yet on whether the Yamaha R125 will make it to the Malaysian market or not.
