2022 Yamaha XSR125 Legacy Edition: Key highlights
KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha launched the XSR 125 in the Old Continent last year. Based on the street naked MT-125, this neo-retro motorcycle just got even more retro in its new avatar, dubbed as the XSR125 Legacy Edition. Over the standard model, it comes with significant updates that exude an overall fresh appeal. Let’s have a closer look at those updates -

The Yamaha XSR125 Legacy Edition is powered by a Euro5-compliant 124-cc single-cylinder engine producing a maximum power output of 14.95 PS and a peak torque of 11.5 Nm.Exclusive black livery with gold and silver accents
The all-new XSR125 Legacy Edition is decked up with a historic Black paint scheme teamed up with the gold and silver pinstripe graphics on the body. The golden stripe on the fuel tank with Yamaha badging creates a nice contrast with the glossy black paint. Overall, the new outfit looks flashy, yet clean and sleek.
Gold wheels with new Metzeler Karoo tyres
Contrary to the black alloy wheels available on the base version, the Legacy Edition gets spoked wheels with golden rims taking the retro charm to the next level. Yamaha engineers wrapped these wheels with new Metzeler Karoo block pattern tyres, which offer optimum trail-friendly performance.
New two-piece aluminium exhaust cover
Another key highlight of the 2022 Yamaha XSR125 Legacy Edition is a two-piece aluminium exhaust cover, which looks more classy than the black unit we can find on the standard variant.
Well, apart from these aesthetic mods, the new XSR125 version continues to carry the same neo-retro styling elements as the base model. Among the main highlights is a beefy fuel tank, round LED headlight, an upright handlebar, and a circular LCD fully-digital instrument cluster.
Mechanically also, the things remain the same with a Euro5-compliant 124-cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing a maximum power output of 14.95 PS and a peak torque of 11.5 Nm. The power is sent to the ground with a 6-speed transmission.
The suspension setup gets the same upside-down front forks and monoshock rear suspension, while braking responsibility is in the hands of the 267 mm front disc and 220 mm rear disc complemented by a dual-channel ABS system.
Price & availability
Yamaha will start delivering the new XSR125 Legacy Edition in the UK market from June 2022 at the most likely price of 5,050 Euros (around RM 23,581).
Unfortunately, the bike will not be heading to the Malaysian shores any time soon.
