Honda EV-O electric bike revealed - 170 km range, price from RM 17.7k

KUALA LUMPUR: In an electric push towards electrification, the automotive giant Honda has introduced its first-ever electric bike, called the EV-O. However, this eco-friendly two-wheeled machine is limited to only the Chinese market.

That said, the Honda EV-O has been designed and developed in partnership with Guangzhou, the brand's Chinese partner, and will be sold under the brand name Wuyang-Honda.

Power and battery options

At the core of the Honda electric bike lies a 21.2-hp electric motor, mated to either a 4.1 kWh dual-battery or a 6.2 kWh triple-battery pack. The key specs are as follows -

Design 

Based on a forged aluminium chassis, the Honda EV O boasts a retro café racer-type design. It has a round LED headlamp, bar-end mirrors, a clip-on handlebar, and a single-piece seat. The EV runs on 16-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels. 

Features 

The Wuyang-Honda is equipped with the following features - 

• Twin seven-inch TFT displays
• Three riding modes - Eco, Normal, Sport
• Tyre Pressure Monitoring System 
• Front-facing camera (Higher-spec version adds a rear dash cam for complete video recording)
• Single disc brakes with dual-channel ABS

Price 

The base-spec dual-battery Honda EV-O is priced at CNY 30,000 (RM 17,729) while for the triple-battery model, customers need to shell out CNY 37,000 (RM 21,866).

While the bike is currently limited to China at the moment, its global-market version may arrive in the near future.
