Malaysia gets a new entry-level urban scooter, the Aveta Serra 125

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s competitive scooter market has just welcomed a new contender in the form of the Aveta Serra 125. It is the brand’s first flat-floor scooter model catering to the needs of daily urban commuters.

Price

The Aveta Serra 125 is priced at RM 5,088 (on-the-road, without insurance) in Malaysia. Included in the price is a two-year or 20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects.

Engine and transmission

Powering the new Aveta scooter is a 124-cc single-cylinder air-cooled SOHC engine, which generates a maximum power of 8.1 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 10 Nm at 6,000 rpm.  Power is sent to the wheels via a CVT automatic transmission mated to a belt final drive system.

Design and features

The Aveta Serra is an entry-level scooter with a clean, modern design, focused on everyday practicality rather than sporty appeal. With a striking front design, the vehicle features a flat floorboard (the foot area is completely flat), which makes it suitable for all types of clothing. It offers more legroom, flexibility, and lets riders carry bags, groceries, and even small boxes between their legs.

Suspension & braking 

The suspension setup comprises a telescopic fork at the front and telescopic coil springs at the rear. Handling the braking duties is a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.
