DS 7 Crossback

The interior cabin of the DS 7 Crossback is nothing short of a revelation, as it has a magical layout that screams an incredible amount of individuality and attention to detail.

The four-spoke flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel with the octagonal center boss not only looks great but is also good to hold as well. The carved theme for the full TFT instrument console, which gets colored display and readouts, looks so futuristic, and the same can be said about the large trapezoidal touchscreen infotainment system at the center, which gets its buttons laid out below it in the form of a sleek array.

Above the infotainment system, there are rectangular AC vents, in the middle of which there are elegant looking rectangular analog clock and push start-stop button. The great attention to detail can be sensed in the way the transmission tunnel with toggle like buttons for various functions, vertically laid trapezoidal AC vents on the corners of the dashboard, and crystal theme for particular buttons look.

The DS 7 Crossback might have got a much recognizable silhouette, but has been bestowed with quite a dramatic design language, which is an epitome of craftsmanship. Every bit here has been paid with great attention to detail, which makes it even more special.

The front profile of the DS 7 Crossback has a large hexagonal grille with diamond-pattern mesh inside it, which gets abundant use of chrome on the sides and bottom of it. The chrome garnish on the sides of the grille extends towards the ends of the trapezoidal-shaped headlamps, which look super cool with their quad-LED projector treatment.

The chrome garnish at the bottom of the grille is spread across the width of the front bumper, which ends up above the LED fog lamps on either side. The outer corners of the aforementioned chrome garnish do sport vertically laid sleek daytime running LEDs. At the bottom of the front bumper are present the silver skid plate at the center and body cladding, the latter of which flows towards the sides – over rounded wheel arches and bottom of the doors – and at the rear.

The side profile of the DS 7 Crossback gets slight bulges over the wheel arches and two very sharp character lines over the front and rear fenders respectively. The thick body-colored mountings and piano black finish for the rearview mirrors are a nice touch, whereas the chrome finish over the window frame and razor pattern for the machined alloy wheels adds a touch of elegance.

At the back of the DS 7 Crossback, there is a mix of bulges and sleekness, with the slim LED tail lamps getting a loud looking use of chrome garnish around it, which extends throughout the width of the rear boot.

Despite being a heightened crossover, the aerodynamic design of the DS 7 Crossback, along with a stiffer and electronically controlled suspension, along with multiple drive modes, make the overall driving experience of the crossover quite agile and lively. There is a praiseworthy heft to the steering which is quite appreciable as the speeds rise.

Powering the DS 7 Crossback is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is available with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as the only transmission option available for the crossover. The engine is the same as that on the DS 5 hatchback, but here is in a different state of tune – 165 PS of maximum power and 240 Nm of peak torque output.

The DS 7 Crossback gets a slew of safety features as standard, such as front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability program, reverse camera, front and reverse parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring system and blind-spot monitoring system.

From the point of view of design, craftsmanship, and attention to detail, the DS 7 Crossback scores heavily and positions itself as a premium crossover. It has the ability to shake up the well-heeled competition from other European majors of the same size and price in terms of the overall feel and appeal it offers.
