Kia EV6

While the Kia EV6 has a radical-looking exterior, it has a slightly subtler-looking cabin layout, which looks modern and eye-pleasing with funky-looking controls at places. The all-black cabin of the Kia EV6, coupled with vegan leather, makes it look sporty yet luxurious. 

The highlights of the cabin of the Kia EV6 include a two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with a wide-looking centre boss, behind which there is a wide full-TFT console. This console has two 12.3-inch screens – one for the instrument console and one for the touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin is also heavily equipped with features like a sunroof, 10-way powered and ventilated front seats, a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, and an augmented reality head-up display.

For a current-day vehicle, the Kia EV6 impresses with its radical and futuristic-looking shooting brake design, which though classifies it as a crossover. 

The sleek front fascia of the Kia EV6 has sharp and angular-looking all-LED headlamps with V-shaped daytime running LEDs, with a thin strip of closed grille joining the headlamps while running across the front width. Above the front fascia, the bonnet of the EV6 has a curved design with nice flowing contours over it, while below, the front bumper of the EV6 has a wide air intake which helps in cooling the battery.

It is on the side, where the actual visual drama of the Kia EV6 starts. The all-electric crossover from Kia gets tapering down the roofline, which along with the humped design towards the rear gives it an impression of a shooting brake design. The EV6 looks quite cool with design elements like rounded wheel arches, flush-type door handles, low ground clearance and 20-inch machined alloy wheels.

At the back, the EV6 looks like it has come from another planet, with a very unique and muscular design for the boot lid. Here, the windscreen tapers down radically towards the swooping tail section comprising an LED light bar spread across the width of the boot lid. This light bar extends towards the sides while housing the LED tail lamps and dynamic turn indicators on the corners. Apart from these lighting elements, the design for the rest of the boot looks clean yet dramatic.

Having a crossover design, the Kia EV6 measures 4695mm long, 1890mm wide and 1550mm tall, while having a wheelbase of 2900mm and a ground clearance of 155mm. The EV6 has McPherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, which in combination with the large 20-inch wheels, give it sporty driving dynamics, though at the cost of ride quality, which is slightly on the stiffer side. 

For the Malaysian car market, the Kia EV6 is available in its all-wheel-drive guise, which comes with a dual motor setup, comprising one electric motor each at the front and rear axle. The combined power and torque output of these electric motors are rated at 325 bhp of maximum power and 700 Nm of maximum torque. The 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack of the Kia EV6 claims 528 km of range. This battery takes 18 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 per cent using a 350 kW DC fast charger. However, using a 50 kW fast charger takes 73 minutes to do the same. 

The Kia EV6 is fully-loaded with all the modern safety features, such as autonomous level-2 ADAS, eight airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control and 60+ connected car features.

The Kia EV6 has a very impressive exterior design, which creates a very strong impression of it being a vehicle designed for tomorrow. Beyond those futuristic looks, the EV6 is also a practical vehicle with several usable features, a spacious cabin and a fun-to-drive character.
