Mazda 6 Touring

Just like the outside, the interior of the Mazda 6 Touring also looks very elegant and belongs to the category of luxury vehicles with its sense of style and minimalism. The cabin is offered in a dual-tone black and violet upholstery, with the dashboard having an all-black finish with soft-touch leather and contrast violet stitching and the seats finished in violet leather upholstery.

The driver’s cockpit of the Mazda 6 Touring looks fairly simple with the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and the three-pod instrument console, which looks a bit dated by modern standards. The centre console of the vehicle has a layered finish, with the upper layer accommodating sleek looking AC vents, while the lower layer housing the panel for automatic climate control switches.

These two layers are separated by a fine strip of satin chrome running across the width of the dashboard. At the top of the dashboard, there is a free-standing 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The other features of the Mazda 6 Touring include a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, push start-stop button, sunroof and dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents.

Mazdas can be easily termed as the Italians among Japanese for the sense of style they carry, and the same can be said for the Mazda 6 Touring as well. This car is one of the best looking station wagons sold in Malaysia, of the curvy and smooth design language it carries throughout its profile.

At the front, the Mazda 6 Touring welcomes you with a large grille, which has rounded corners all around and tapered edges at the bottom. This grille comes with honeycomb mesh on the inside and chrome garnish on the lower and side edges. The chrome garnish on the side edges extends to the lower edges of the sleek-looking eyebrow-shaped headlamps, which have LED projectors and daytime running LEDs within them. The front bumper has sleek strips of chrome on both the lower sides of it.

The Mazda 6 Touring has a smoothly flowing front bonnet, with nice curves flowing above the front fenders, giving it an aerodynamic appeal. The Mazda 6 Touring looks long and stretched from the side, thanks to the long wheelbase, large body panels and window panels and the long and curved roofline flowing towards the rear. While the roof rails and blacked-out door-mounted rearview mirrors and 10-spoke alloy wheels add some sportiness to the design, the premium appeal of the car is further accentuated by the chrome finish on the window panel surrounds.

The rear profile of the Mazda 6 Touring looks smooth too, with the curvy looking tail lamp clusters having nice looking LED inserts. There is a fine strip of chrome which flows above the license plate housing and joins the tail lamps on either side.

Apart from having a spacious cabin, the sense of comfort in the Mazda 6 Touring is further enhanced by the plush setup for the suspension combination of Macpherson struts at the front and the multi-link setup at the rear. The Mazda 6 Touring feels rock-solid even over non-uniform patches of road and feels composed to drive on all parameters, barring the off-road sections.

The Mazda 6 Touring shares its 2.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with its sedan counterpart, the Mazda 6. This engine is available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox as the standard transmission and is capable of producing 192 bhp of maximum power and 258 Nm of maximum torque.

The Mazda 6 Touring is armed with a long list of safety features, which comprises six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, dynamic stability control, traction control, hill launch assist, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, adaptive headlamps, blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, driver attention alert and smart city brake support.

For its price, the Mazda 6 Touring could have had more comfort and convenience features on offer, but still, the station wagon manages to offer an excellent combination of premium appeal, comfort and refined driving experience.
