Recent Updates of E-Class Cabriolet

Along with the Coupe version, Mercedes-Benz also introduced the facelifted Cabriolet model of its best-selling vehicle - the E-Class. The revised car features a new front fascia that includes a downturned grille with a huge brand logo at the centre and chrome pins all around. Complementing the grille setup are flat trapezoidal LED headlights, in Multibeam versions the lighting unit gets arrow-shaped DRLs. The bonnet and side profile of the model remains unchanged, however, the rear gets LED taillights with square graphics. Also, new to its exterior kit is aerodynamic wheel options and new colour tones - Designo Red, High-tech Silver, Mojave Silver, and Graphite Grey Metallic. One of the biggest inclusions is the updated Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system that comes with additions for the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice control system, like a quiz for the capitals of the country, snow report for popular skiing destinations, and even the latest horoscope. The scree-sizes also gets a bump - twin 10.25-inch standard display, centre unit with a touch-sensitive feature.  Safety kit now includes cross-traffic detection for autonomous emergency braking systems, navigation-based Distronic adaptive cruise control, and door opening warning. The model is offered with several updated power plants, all with a 48V EQ Boost mild hybrid system.

Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet Review 2024

Based on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan, the E-Class Cabriolet offers the exclusivity of a two-door look and open-top motoring experience over the former. In the Singapore market, the Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet has been made available in a single fully loaded variant by the name of E250 Cabriolet.

Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet Interior & Features

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet shares its entire cabin layout with the E-Class sedan, which in itself is one of the latest cars to feature Mercedes Benz’s latest in-cabin design trends. There are a host of trim levels and upholstery combinations to choose from, thus allowing some levels of exclusivity on the inside as well.

While the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel looks excellent with silver inserts, what makes you go gaga even more is the large dual 10.25-inch landscape styled screens positioned as a single unit. This entire layout houses the instrument console on the left side and the infotainment system on the right one, with both of them having a range of full TFT-assisted data to display.

The stubby and cascading design for the centre console below the infotainment screen gets a premium piano black finish, with it housing the controls for the automatic climate control as well as transmission and drive mode selector in it.

E-Class Cabriolet Exterior

As the E-Class sedan is already known as one of the most well-sought designs in the space of executive sedans, the Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet, which is based on the former, takes that benchmark one notch higher with its exclusive two-door look.

The front profile of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet gets the exact same look as that of its sedan counterpart, with the wide front grille with rounded edges and a star-studded mesh pattern within it, taking the center stage. The headlamps, which are pushed slightly backward on the side edges of the front grille, have rounded edges towards the back, and get a full LED lighting arrangement, complete with dual slim L-shaped daytime running LEDs.

The side profile of the Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet gets the exclusive wide two door look, with the absence of any sharp character line here making it look very smooth and elegant. The multi-spoke alloy wheel pattern, as well as the door, mounted rearview mirrors makes it look sporty.

At the back, the Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet gets a clean and elegant look with the Mercedes Benz logo sitting in the middle of the boot lid, which gets sleek and horizontally laid pair of tail lamps with LED inserts. These tail lamps are stretched all the way towards the sides of the rear fenders. The rear bumper gets a sleek chrome garnish stretched across its width, engulfing the chrome-tipped exhaust outlets.

Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet Ride & Handling

The traditional flavour of a premium cabriolet with a rear-wheel-drive configuration and a softly sprung suspension setup has been executed for the Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet as well. The E-Class sedan has always been known for its incredibly smooth ride quality, and the E-Class Cabriolet retains that trait very well. However, it doesn’t match the spacious feel of the E-Class sedan at the backseat.

E-Class Cabriolet Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet, in its sole E250 variant sold here in Singapore, gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine assisted with a 7-speed automatic gearbox and is the only powertrain option for the market here. This engine is capable of belting out a maximum power output of 210 PS and a peak torque output of 350 Nm.

Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet Braking & Safety

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet is loaded with a range of standard safety features, the list of which contains front, side, curtain and knee airbags, rollover stability control, hill descent control, emergency brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), and traction control, lane keep assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist, hill start assist, pedestrian detection system, auto park brake hold and electric parking brake.

E-Class Cabriolet Verdict

Having the same elegant feel of the E-Class sedan in and out, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet takes that luxurious experience one bar higher with its cabriolet flavor, which adds in its enhanced road presence, wherever it goes.
