Mercedes Benz Maybach S-Class

Having a strict four-seater cabin with its base layout retained from the standard S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class claims a first-class rear seating experience with a full-length centre console stretched to the rear seats, enveloping the occupants.

Finished in Maybach Exclusive Nappa leather, the fully electrically adjustable seats of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class offer the best comfort levels, with them equipped with pillow headrests, memory, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The rear seats also have an Ottoman function to enhance comfort levels.

The rear seat occupants are further pampered by additional luxury features like foldable work tables, a 7-inch tablet for controlling several vehicular functions, dual 11.6-inch rear seat entertainment touchscreens, an integrated refrigerator with optional silver-plated flutes, automatic 64-colour ambient lighting functionalities, and powered rear windscreen sunblind.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class further gets a panoramic sunroof, powered rear side window sunblinds, thick pile carpets, front and rear Qi wireless chargers, a fingerprint reader, Manufaktur open-pore walnut wood trim with aluminium inlay strips, 15-speaker Burmester audio system with twin wireless headphones for rear seat occupants and active noise cancellation. 

Based on the standard version of the seventh-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has mild tweaks and add-ons to make it look more exclusive and grander than the former. The adaptive Digital Light LED headlights are the same as the standard S-Class, but this Maybach sedan gets a different chrome grille with vertical chrome slats and a Maybach badge.

The front bumper also looks more premium here with chrome surrounds for the air intakes on the corners. Adding more opulence to the side profile of the adaptive Digital Light LED headlights are chrome-finished B-pillars and 21-inch multi-spoke forged alloy wheels. One can customise the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class with a premium dual-tone paint finish with a pinstriping job for over RM 100,000. 

With retractable door handles and chrome surrounds for the side window panels, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class shares its sleek and stretched triangular LED tail lamps and powered boot lid with the standard S-Class. However, at the rear, it looks different with its more upright C-pillar, chrome inserts on the rear bumper, and different-looking exhaust ports. 

While the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S580 misses out on the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, this luxury sedan comes with Airmatic air suspension armed with e-active body control and active roll stabilisation. These features help the Maybach S-Class to maintain control and composure at all speeds and corners, making the ride quality comfortable and well-settled. 

While the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class also has a rear-wheel turning radius that reduces its turning radius by 1 metre, the enormous length and wheelbase of the sedan do give it a high turning radius. Also, while the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class retains the Comfort and Sport drive modes from the regular S-Class, it also gets an exclusive Maybach drive mode for enhanced comfort and sedate driving experience. 

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, in this S580 variant, gets a detuned version of the 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine, which is offered in many of the range-topping Mercedes-Benz offerings, including AMG GT, G 63 AMG and more. However, even in this detuned version, this engine produces a maximum power of 503 PS and a maximum torque output of 700 Nm. 

Paired with a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, this engine is also assisted by a 48V EQ Boost mild-hybrid system, which further adds 20 PS and 200 Nm of performance outputs. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class claims 4.8 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run and a fuel efficiency of 9.1 kmpl. 

Armed with the best safety net from Mercedes-Benz, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets a plethora of advanced and premium safety features, including 14 airbags, pre-safe and pre-safe impulse ride for increasing ground clearance for better protection against side impact, a Driver Assistance package with plenty of ADAS features and Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, 360-degree parking camera, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, active park assist, hill start assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake and more.
