Porsche Boxster Review 2025

Introduction:

When it comes to manufacturing the most classic sports cars, the Porsche family holds its head high and is regarded as the paragon of excellence and the Porsche Boxster, the 2 seater cabriolet, has kept alive this legacy of the elite brand. Currently in its third generation, Boxster was first introduced by German automakers in the late 1996 and ever since it was launched, the car garnered tremendous global approbation, much credit for which goes to its sleek design and exceptional acceleration. In 2012, the car was first unveiled in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit and has been popular throughout the country till date.

Engine, mileage & variants:

Boxster is available in 3 variants namely Boxster, Boxster S and Boxster GTS. These variants are powered by 2 petrol engines of capacity 2.7 litre and 3.4 litre. The mid mounted engine employed in Boxster keeps the centre of gravity low and hence uniformly transfers weight between the front and rear axles. The maximum power delivered across all the variants ranges from 195 kW at 6700 rpm to 243 kW at 6700 rpm. The peak torque reached varies from 280 Nm (between 4500 to 6500 rpm) to a generous 370 Nm (between 4500 to 5800 rpm). The VarioCam Plus Technology works in harmony with the direct fuel injection system to deliver a superior fuel economy. The combined fuel economy of the car ranges from 11.1 kmpl to 16.9 kmpl depending upon the engine you choose. The fastest amongst the lot is the Boxster GTS which churns out impressive figures crossing the 100 kmph mark in well under 4.9 seconds.

Exteriors:

Porsche Boxster gives a unique feel at first sight. It blends perfect proportions with contemporary, powerful looks and a sober exterior. The vertical contour of the headlights and the large imposing air intakes add to the sporty quotient. The sleek roofline, wedge shaped silhouette and rear wing give the car an elegant demeanor. The dimensions are 4374 mm x 1801 mm x 1282mm (L x W x H) for the Boxer whereas the Boxer GTS has the (L x W x H) dimensions of a longer and lower 4404mm x 1801mm x 1273mm with a wheelbase of 2475 mm. The car comes employed with alloy wheels of rim size 18-inch, 19-inch and 20-inch with specifications 265/35 ZR20.

Interiors:

The interiors has been designed in such a way that aggrandizes the driving experience along with supreme comfort and is a perfect amalgamation of modern design with ample cabin space. The central console swathes the driver perfectly and reduces the distance of steering wheel from gearbox thus allowing ergonomic gearshifts. The car has been equipped with plenty of infotainment and audio features, the most notable of them being the advanced BOSE Surround Sound System that comes with 10 powerful speakers and a subwoofer that will definitely fantacize audiophiles. It also has a 7-inch touchscreen display as standard. The boot space of the car measures 280 litres which might leave a slight disgruntlement.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous:

The 918 is available in both Porsche Doppelkuppulung (PDK) automatic transmission system and manual versions, ensuring a phenomenal handling. The car has been embedded with the advanced Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system that continuously regulates the damping force for each wheel depending on the type of terrain. The German automakers have also kept in mind maximum safety of passengers. Boxster is equipped with full size airbags that work in 2 different stages depending on the intensity of collision. Besides that, the car has been incorporated with plenty of other safety features like Porsche Side Impact Protection System, Anti Theft Protection and Porsche Stability Management that are more than enough to ensure a safe ride.

Verdict:

The car has that sleek and elegant exterior body along with a powerful engine that will make you fall in love at first sight. Exorbitant price tag and high running cost might disappoint a bit though.
