Introduction

Volkswagen EOS is a smart compact car produced by the German automobile giant Volkswagen, launching back in 2006. Importing its design cues from Volkswagen Golf, EOS is the first and only hardtop convertible coupe into cabriolet vehicle in the market today, and it does that quite efficiently too in just about 25 seconds. Under the hood, Volkswagen Eos is equipped with a 2.0-litre TSI direct injection turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine delivering a maximum power output measuring 210 PS between 5300 to 6200 rpm along with the high torque measuring 280 Nm between 1700 to 5200 rpm. Exhilarating smooth ride with the TSI engine, EOS touches speed mark of 100km/hr from halt in just around 7.8 seconds. Talking about fuel consumption in urban, extra-urban and combined pathways, it delivers mileage measuring 10.2 l/100km, 5.9 l/100km and 7.5 l/100km, respectively. In addition, it is coupled with 6-speed direct shift gearbox DSG that hurry up the speeding process toward top speed of 236 km/hr.

Interiors

EOS offers seating to four-passengers at a time with sufficient space you need to travel long ways. To give cooling effect to its occupants, seats are covered in cool leather 'Nappa' upholstery and kept in light shade which is further accompanied by Climatronic air conditioning system with 2-zone temperature control. To draw all your attention towards the dashboard, it is highlighted in 'Black Peak' inserts unlike the other interiors. The 3-spoked leather covered multi-function steering wheel eases handling by offering control switches for direct shift gearbox. Fun segment is praised by the presence of Media-in interface, USB, aux-in, iPod, radio RNS 510 touchscreen and integrated satellite navigation system.

Verdict

Frankly, Volkswagen EOS is truly in a league of its own, a class apart from its conventional hatch-derived convertible rivals. The car sports a dominating stylish design and well engineered drive, and maybe that is the reason for its tremendous success in segment.
