2019 Kia Niro Hybrid and PHEV models to debut at Geneva Motor Show
KUALA LUMPUR: Kia has updated the Niro Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models with minor changes inside and outside along with the introduction of a better infotainment system. The powertrains, on the other hand, remain unchanged. The cars will be launched at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2019.
The 2019 Kia Niro Hybrid facelift comes with the familiar ‘tiger nose’ with a funkier grille insert. Removal of the black outline around the nose gives it a more prominent look. It gets new bumpers housing including optional LED fog lamps, and new double-arrow LED daytime running lights.
At the rear, is a fresh bumper along with LED signature taillamps. The new bumper has a wide skid plate along with arrow-like elements on the sides. The Niro Hybrid buyers can choose between 16-inch regular or 18-inch dual-tone diamond-cut rims. On the other hand, the Niro PHEV rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels having dark grey inserts.
Inside the cabin, the car gets certain visual changes to offer a better atmosphere. The instrument panel features a soft-touch coating. On the dash, one can opt for a 10.25-inch widescreen main display and 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster in place of the standard 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster.
Kia provides two interior color combination for the Hybrid and PHEV models - Red-Orange and Plum, which will differ depending on the market. The former gets red-orange dash trim along with red contrast stitching, while the later offers perforated plum-colored leather wrapped seats with warm purple stitching.
The facelifted Kia Niro models that will debut at Geneva Motor Show are European-spec units. There’s no word on pricing yet.
