2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class to make its world debut on January 15

KUALA LUMPUR: At the upcoming 2018 Detroit Auto Show, the German automaker, Mercedes-Benz will finally take the wraps off the 2019 G-Class. This is the biggest makeover that the G-Class (Gelandewagen) will receive in its almost 40 years of lifespan. The interior images were already released by the manufacturer last month and now, the teaser, as well as the launch date of the 2019 G-Class are out.

 

Although the teaser image does not hint anything on the designing front, it is expected that the manufacturer has retained the style elements of the outgoing version. The list includes unique door handles, indicator lights, along with a boxy design. These were the elements that set apart the G-Class from its competitors. The next-generation is expected to keep this distinction intact.

 

From the previously released interior images, it has been clearly identified that the upcoming G-Class will be more spacious with a minimalistic approach to the dashboard. But, a 12.3-inch display with a glass cover and metallic circular air vents will grab the attention instantly, also leading to a premium feel.

When on stage, we expect that Mercedes will reveal all the engine options of the 2019 G-Class with 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission being already confirmed with the SUV.  Also, we hope that the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 from the outgoing generation will be carried ahead with a V6 twin-turbo for the base model. But, nothing is confirmed and let’s wait for January 15th to get a clear sight on the powertrain of the upcoming G-Class.
