Brabus gives performance boost to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class W177

KUALA LUMPUR: Brabus, an aftermarket high-performance tuning company, has given a new tuning programme to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class W177 hatchback. It's not new for the Mercedes-Benz cars to get performance mods from the tuning marques. A few days ago, Lorinser had also provided a new tuning to the same hatch, upping the power output to 258 hp and torque to 420 Nm.

However, Brabus seems to have taken things a notch ahead. After the performance upgrade, called the Brabus PowerXtra B 25 S, the hatchback can produce a maximum power of 270 hp and the peak torque also bumps to 430 Nm. The performance boost has been achieved by reprogramming the ECU mapping, re-tuning the boost pressure control, and increasing the airbox ducting.

The ongoing model of W177 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is capable of providing a maximum of 224 hp power along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. Which means the power output has been increased by 46 hp and 80 Nm respectively.

The tuned W177 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo A 250 mill, which can now go 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds. For the turbodiesel models, a powerXtra kit is under development.

The exhaust system has also received some modifications. Brabus has given its own exhaust system with actively controlled flaps and the whole system is built with stainless steel. At the front, the vehicle comes with a two-piece front spoiler. The flaps side are raised, which ensures that the front-axle lift will be reduced at high speeds.

Get inside the car and you will be welcomed by leather and Alcantara trim. In addition, floor mats and stainless steel scuff plates containing the tuner’s logo along with the aluminium pedals add to the sportiness of the hot hatch.
