Jaguar extends Pace family with the all-new I-Pace electric crossover
KUALA LUMPUR: Finally, after the long teaser game, Jaguar has now revealed its all-new electric crossover, the I-Pace. The car looks stunning and withholds looks, performance and cabin amenities making it all ready to compete with the likes of Tesla Model X.
According to Jaguar Vehicle Line Director, Ian Hoban, for I-Pace the company adopted a clean sheet approach and has harnessed ‘a new battery electric technology with an architecture engineered from the outset to optimise EV performance, aerodynamics and interior space’.
Getting to know Jaguar I-Pace in detail -
Design Language
- The all-new I-Pace shares close resemblance with its 2017 Geneva International Motor Show revealed concept.
- The car sports an aero-inspired sleek look that gives the impression of the famous C-X75 concept
- The new electric vehicle gets a few front and rear fascia styling from F-Type, like front grille, headlight, and tailgate design
- Further increasing its exterior appeal is present glass roof extending all the way to the C-pillar.
Cabin Amenities
- Jaguar I-Pace cabin is a combination of fine upholstery and high-tech gadgets
- Taking care of passenger comfort are present features like sport bucket seats, wood grain trim, automatic climate control, digital instrument panel, leather upholstery, and gloss black plastic
- On the tech front is present Jaguar InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system that comes with Artificial Intelligence algorithms and Smart Settings
- Jaguar I-Pace comes with an advanced system that recognises drivers preference and sets the cabin mode accordingly
Under the hood configuration
- Jaguar’s all-new electric car is powered by a pair of in-house developed electric motor
- The said motors deliver performance at par with the sports car, all thanks to their smart placement at the axel
- Supporting the two motors is a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that allows the car to travel 386 km in one full charge
- Talking about its charging time, once plugged-in the battery gets 80 percent charged in just 40-minutes (it requires a 230V outlet)
Performance
- As for numbers, the electric motors churn out a maximum power output of 394 PS along with a peak torque of 694 Nm
- The company claims that the all-new I-Pace can go from 0 to 97 kmph in a mere time frame of 4.5 seconds
That’s all the information we have for now on Jaguar I-Pace, the car is set to make its global debut at 2018 Geneva International Motor Show. Though nothing is announced regarding its sale, we are expecting it to arrive at dealerships at mid or end of this year.
