Proton X70 price to be revealed on 12 December

KUALA LUMPUR: There has been quite a buzz made by the Proton X70 in recent times. The automaker has also not left any stone unturned in the bid to put the all-new SUV in every Malaysian’s mind. The Proton X70 has also been featured at the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show.

Soon after the preview at the KLIMS 2018, Proton announced that the SUV will be launched on 12 December 2018. Same will be the day when we get to know the prices for the different variants of the highly anticipated X70. The four different trims of the Proton X70 include the Standard 2WD, Executive 2WD, Executive AWD, and Premium 2WD. For starters, the SUV will be imported from China and the local assembly of the X70 will only start later next year.

The Standard 2WD, which is not on display at the KLIMS 2018, differs ever so slightly from the other variants. The only equipment that makes the Standard 2WD distinct include halogen headlamps, smaller 17-inch alloys, reflector headlamps, reverse camera, and fabric seats. However, features present on all the different trims include leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, keyless entry/start, full-LCD instrument console, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, electronic parking-brake, 8.0-inch GKUI touchscreen infotainment system that comes with “Hi Proton” Voice Command, and 6 USB charging ports.

Moving up, the Executive models feature 18-inch alloys, LED headlights, LED DRLs, black leather, 360-degree surround view camera seat, and a power adjustable driver seat. Further up, the Premium 2WD variant gets powered front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, 9 speaker Kenwood sound system, and a panoramic sunroof. The Proton X70 comes with various color options which include Armour Silver, Snow White, Flame Red, Jet Grey, and Cinnamon Brown.

1.8-litre turbocharged 4-pot T-GDI motor powers all the four variants of the Proton X70. This engine produces 186 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 285 Nm. Standard across the range are safety features like ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, 6 airbags, ESC, Hill Descent Control Traction Control, Hill Hold Assist, and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. Furthermore, the Advanced Driver Assistance System on the Premium 2WD brings along features like front and rear parking sensors, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Intelligent High Beam Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Information System. The cherry on the cake is the 5-star safety rating by the ASEAN NCAP given to the Proton X70.

Proton will be announcing the official prices for the X70 SUV on 12 December. Until then, the interested buyers can place a booking for as low as RM 99.
