KUALA LUMPUR: In the European market, the entry-level riders can only drive A1-approved bikes, the ones whose engine displacement lies under 125cc with a power output restricted to 15 PS. Following these norms are the Kawasaki Ninja 125 and Z125 tiny bikes which recently received an update for the 2022 model year.

The changes include new colour schemes that display a more playful and adventurous character of these small Kawasakis. The 2022 Ninja 125 gets a bodywork redolent of the Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) Ninja machines raced by Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes. It is offered in three colour options including

  • Metallic spark black/metallic flat spark black
  • Pearl flat stardust white/metallic spark black
  • Lime green/ebony/pearl blizzard white

The 2022 Z125, on the contrary, gets choices available with its larger siblings. These include Candy lime green/metallic spark black, Pearl flat stardust white/metallic flat spark black, and metallic flat spark black.

On the mechanical front, both Kawasaki models are fitted with the same 125cc, four-stroke, single engine that churns out a maximum power output of 15 PS at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 11.7 Nm at 7700 rpm. As for suspensions, the bikes based on the tubular steel diamond-type frame feature 37 mm telescopic forks at the front, and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The duo rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped with 110/80 front and 130/70 rear tyres.

Also, parts of the kit are all-digital meters, advanced ABS braking, and Supersport ergonomics. The latter includes a 20 mm higher seat as an Ergo-fit accessory option for the Ninja and a 25 mm lower seat choice for the Z.
