Malaysia gets the all-new Kawasaki KLE500 adventure tourer

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian two-wheeler market recently welcomed a new player in the form of the all-new Kawasaki KLE500. It is a middleweight adventure motorcycle, designed for daily commuting, long-distance touring, and off-road exploration.

Kawasaki KLE500: Price and launch promotion 

The Kawasaki KLE500 is priced at RM 32,900 (excluding insurance and road tax) in Malaysia. Included in the price is a 2-year unlimited warranty against manufacturing defects. 

Kawasaki KLE500: Key highlights

• The bike features rally-inspired styling with upright ergonomics and a three-position adjustable windshield, providing a balanced combination of comfort, control and versatility across different terrains.
  
  
• It is powered by a 451-cc parallel-twin, DOHC eight-valve engine that delivers a maximum power of 44.8 hp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 42.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
  
  
• Power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive.
  
  

• The Kawasaki KLE 500 rides on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels wrapped with 90/90 front and 140/70 rear tyres. For suspension, it gets an upside-down fork at the front and a preload-adjustable Uni-Trak monoshock at the rear.
  
  
• Handling the braking duties is a single 300 mm disc brake at the front with a two-piston calliper and a single 230 mm disc brake at the rear with a two-piston calliper, complemented by a two-channel Nissin anti-lock braking system.
  
  
• Other key highlights include LED lighting, an LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, a 16-litre fuel tank, and 185 mm ground clearance.
