Yamaha Nmax: Reasons to buy

Yamaha Nmax: Reasons to buy

Yamaha Malaysia lineup is pretty extensive. From affordable underbone vehicles to performance scooters and motorcycles, it has enough to meet the needs of a broad spectrum of audience. And that's one of the primary reasons behind its stronghold in the local market. Speaking of its product lineup, the Max fleet drives a lot of attention, especially from the young buyers. The said range has two amazing offerings - the Xmax and Nmax.

Yamaha Nmax side profile

While the former is packed with more power and a hefty price tag, the latter has acquired significant sales because of its easy rideability and affordability. In this article, we are going to discuss a few more reasons to buy the Yamaha Nmax.

Engine

Since the Nmax is known for its easy and fun rideability, it's more than reasonable to start with the Nmax heart,i.e., its engine. Yamaha Nmax specs sheet mentions a 155 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power 14.9 bhp of at 8000 rpm along with a peak torque of 14.4 Nm that kicks at 6000 rpm. This mill is paired to a V-belt automatic transmission unit that transmits the power to the wheels.

Yamaha has powered its engine with the renowned Blue Core technology which makes the scooter even more efficient. Another interesting feature of this engine is the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology that adjusts the fuel intake at predetermined revs. Thus providing strong torque at low rev range and assures maximum power at high speeds.

Braking performance

After the engine, it's now time to talk about Yamaha Nmax braking specs. The scooter comes fitted with disc brakes on both its wheels. While the presence of disc brakes is already an added advantage in the segment, the absence of Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is sort of a setback. And with the ever-increasing traffic, the inclusion of ABS is highly recommended, we hope Yamaha is listening. Unlike the Philippines and other neighbouring countries where Yamaha offers Nmax in two trims, the Malaysian market gets only one version that is priced at RM 8,409.

Large compartment

Adding to Yamaha Nmax utility quotient is its sizeable under-seat storage compartment where you can keep your things easily. It can also accommodate a full-size helmet. However, some helmets may not fit due to their unusual shape, so kindly do a fit test before buying a helmet.

Stylish LCD dash

The instrument cluster on the Yamaha Nmax is very well designed. It comes with an LCD mono eye display that's simple yet very informative. Another great thing about it is the clear visibility it provides in broad daylight. We must say that Yamaha has done an excellent job in organising the information at the display.

Comfort

Making sure that the rider and the pillion are in comfort at all times, the Yamaha Nmax comes with a large premium seat. Its unique shape enhances the comfort level. Further, its low seat height of 765 mm makes the scooter comfortable even for shorter riders. Another commendable thing about the Nmax is its riding stance. The handlebar position is perfect giving the rider an upright riding stance. This reduces any major stress on the rider's back or spine and makes riding the Nmax much more comfortable to drive especially on those long commutes.

Dynamic looks

Yamaha scooters often carry a dynamic and modern design, and the Nmax is no exception. This premium scooter gets a sharp and attractive LED headlamp, and the triple lamp setup is excellent for low-light visibility. Also, the clear turn signals give a superb contrast irrespective of the color of the scooter. When talking about Nmax looks, how can we not talk about the large windscreen? It not only cut away wind at high speeds, but it also adds to the style element. At the rear, Nmax gets horizontal LED tail light that's incorporated with turn signals.

These were some of the top reasons as to why the Yamaha Nmax is a worthy purchase. It might not be as powerful and feature-rich as its sibling, the Xmax, but we can't complain, given its easy on the pocket price tag. In case, price is not an issue, check out Yamaha Xmax key features and then make a decision.
