Owing a Subaru vehicle is a new experience in itself, atleast this is what the manufacturers claim, and to a large extent they got it spot on with the recently face-lifted Subaru Legacy. To relate with the above statement, you yourself can feel the difference sitting inside Subaru Legacy Sedan and Station Wagon trims. These were the two Legacy variants of Subaru which were launched giving competition to mid-size cars (like Honda Accord and Toyota Camry) in the market and so far Legacy has been able to maintain its legacy over prominent regions. The renowned Japanese manufacturing unit has bagged many awards for the best selling 4-wheel drive car in the market over USA, Malaysia, Australia and other places. The reason behind its popularity is its overall dynamics with better safety shield, interior equipments, comfort and entertainment segment.

Legacy is equipped with Subaru Boxer engine that runs the engine smoothly and efficiently. It is available in two trim levels - Sedan and Station Wagon powered with 2.5-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines. The 2.5-litre, DOHC Turbo Subaru Boxer churns out a maximum power measuring 265 PS at 5600 rpm alongside a high torque of 350 Nm between 2400 to 5200 rpm. Whereas, the other small engine, 2.0-litre, DOHC Subaru Boxer gives maximum power output of 150 PS at 6000 rpm alongside a decent torque output measuring 196 Nm at 3000 rpm. Talking about the fuel consumption these engines take, 2.5-litre powered motor covers 100km distance in taking 10.6 litre fuel and the same distance is covered in taking 8.0 litre by 2.0 litre motor. The acceleration count for Subaru Legacy is even more spectacular pulling off 0-100 km/hr mark in a meager 6.7 seconds reaching the top speed of 210 km/hr with 2.5-liter engine variant.

Exteriors:

Subaru Legacy is offered in two body types – 5-door sedan and 5-door station wagon. The overall dimensions of the drives measure 4745mm X 1780mm X 1505mm (L X W X H) for sedan and 4790mm X 1780mm X 1535mm (L X W X H) for wagon. Front profile of both the cars is similar with integrated grille on bonnet, differently designed headlamps and front fog lamps that is added for safety as they provide clear vision of the road in inadequate climatic conditions. Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous:

Subaru cars come packing with standard all-wheel ventilated disc brakes with hydraulic power steering and 4-wheel independent, Coil suspension, McPherson strut type in front and 4-wheel independent, Coil suspension, Double wishbone type in rear. With this suspension and 4WD, ABS with EBS and Brake Assist works effectively in balancing vehicle in sudden braking. Verdict:

Subaru Legacy is a car that offers standard all-wheel drive in its two trims with lined best-class interior equipments, technology and safety features. Also, offering appealing design and improved fuel efficiency, it gives competition to other mid-size cars in the market. But, the car lacks some basic infotainment features which give traditional rivals like Honda Accord or Toyota Camry certain edge over the product.
