Kia new logo revealed with a pomp show; made a Guinness World Record

KUALA LUMPUR: Kia has been teasing the new logo arrival for a couple of years, but yesterday it finally happened when the Korean automaker officially launched it alongside an all-new brand slogan - “Movement that inspires.” Kia says that the introduction of a new logo is one of the first steps towards its bold transformation move, representing its ambitions to establish a leadership position in the future mobility industry.

To celebrate this event, the automaker organized a massive fireworks show in Incheon, South Korea, that had 303 pyrodrones. The drones launched hundreds of fireworks in a synchronized artistic display, igniting and revealing the brand’s new logo and slogan. The event was indeed a big one and made a Guinness World Record for ‘Most unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launching fireworks simultaneously’.

At the grand moment, Kia’s President and CEO Ho Sung Song said, “Kia’s new logo represents the company’s commitment to becoming an icon for change and innovation.”

Kia’s this new beginning is a part of the brand’s future strategy, named Plan S, which it was first announced at the start of 2020. Through this, the brand aims to focus on developing a dedicated range of EVs and other forms of tailored mobility solutions. “The automotive industry is experiencing a period of rapid transformation, and Kia is proactively shaping and adapting to these changes. Our new logo represents our desire to inspire customers as their mobility needs evolve, and for our employees to rise to the challenges we face in a fast-changing industry, says the President.

The Plan S strategy will introduce Kia’s first dedicated BEV (battery electric vehicle) in 2021, codenamed as the CV, which is expected to offer a cruising range of up to 500 km. Kia has also announced its plan to have 11 BEVs in the lineup by 2025.

More details about the plan will be revealed by the company on January 15, 2021, along with more information about the product portfolio and forthcoming car launches.
