Volkswagen to launch official pre-owned business in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Affordability is one of the chief elements in the checklist of almost every car buyer, at least for Malaysians. In the quest of addressing this need, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) will launch an official pre-owned business in the third quarter of 2019.

This pre-owned car business arm of Volkswagen is called Das WeltAuto. The company claims that this will allow buyers to buy pre-owned vehicles with a fair degree of peace in mind. The plan was revealed at a media roundtable organised at the national capital yesterday. Besides this announcement, it was also confirmed that the VW Arteon and Passat facelift are all set to arrive this year.

Convincing the stakeholders about the quality of pre-owned vehicles, VPCM, in a banner ad for Das WeltAuto said, “Rest assured, only cars that pass our stringent evaluation, with a clean, accident-free record, are approved for sale.” The automaker also assured that all the cars sold by Das WeltAuto would have passed through a 133-point check and will bear a 12-month warranty.

One more news that surfaced along with the aforementioned announcement is that one can now buy a Volkswagen nameplate in the Peninsula directly from Volkswagen AG. The brand’s history dates back to the 1950s when the classic Beetle first made its appearance. However, the company officially stepped into the country in 2006. VPCM is controlled by Porsche Holding Salzburg (PHS), which is the largest car distributor in Europe. The entity has entered the Malaysian retail market with the commencement of PHS Autohaus on 2nd May.
