VW Malaysia launches the 2024 Touareg R-Line - RM467k, 340PS/450Nm, iQ.DRIVE, air suspension, Night Vision

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially announced the much-anticipated arrival of the 2024 Volkswagen Touareg, featuring the exquisite R-Line trim.

The launch of the the locally assembled flagship VW SUV marks a significant addition to Malaysia’s SUV segment, showcasing Volkswagen's commitment to innovation and quality in the local automotive industry. 

More than a decade has passed since Volkswagen Malaysia last offered the Touareg in its lineup, and it's a pleasure to welcome its return.

The comeback of this beloved large SUV is eagerly anticipated by its numerous fans, who have a special affinity for Volkswagen's prestigious offering.

Even VPCM's Managing Director, Denyu Bostandzhiev was proud to re-introduce the Touareg to the market, saying "the Touareg carries the biggest significance for Volkswagen and is a pioneer in so many ways. The third-gen facelift Volkswagen Touareg was globally unveiled in May 2023, and integrates advanced technology with exceptional design, promising an unparalleled driving experience.

Pricing 

The 2024 Touareg is only available in a sole R-Line variant and is priced at RM469,990 inclusive of Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP). With VAP, customers get 5 years free maintenance, 5 years unlimited mileage warranty, and 5 years complimentary roadside assistance.

Innovative Features and Luxurious Design

The revamped Touareg (new to us) boasts a more dominant presence with its updated front and rear design, featuring a redesigned radiator grille, headlights, and a sleeker front apron.

The rear is enhanced with a continuous LED strip for taillights and an illuminated Volkswagen logo in red—a novelty outside China and the US.

The R-Line editions bring a blend of elegance and sportiness, highlighted by 20-inch Braga alloy wheels, refined chrome accents, and prominent 'R' insignia on the doors and grille.

The Touareg R-Line captivates with its IQ.LIGHT HD MATRIX headlights, offering unparalleled illumination with 38,000+ LEDs and night vision that enhances road visibility by detecting living obstacles up to 130 meters ahead.

It introduces the Innovision Cockpit, combining a 12.3-inch Digital Cockpit with a 15-inch Discover Pro Max touchscreen, offering seamless connectivity and a futuristic driving experience.

The Touareg also introduces Night Vision to Malaysia, a feature enhancing nighttime driving by using an infrared sensor to identify living obstacles up to 130 meters away, alerting drivers to potential hazards ahead.

Complementing its superior lighting, the Volkswagen Touareg R-Line elevates the driving experience with its automatic self-levelling air suspension system, improving comfort on all terrains by adjusting the vehicle’s height up to 258mm for better handling and access.

Standard across the range, this system enhances comfort by adapting to road conditions and can lower by 40mm for cargo loading.

The model also boasts an impressive wading depth of 550mm, setting a high standard for driving comfort and capability.

For audiophiles, the Touareg R-Line does not disappoint. It is equipped with the DYNAUDIO Consequence sound system, delivering an impressive 730W of audio power through 14 strategically placed speakers, enveloping passengers in a rich, immersive sound experience.

Under the hood, the Touareg R-Line is powered by a formidable 3.0-litre TSI V6 engine. This powerhouse generates 340 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the 4Motion permanent all-wheel-drive system for dynamic performance and stability.

Advanced Safety and Comfort

Safety remains a paramount concern, addressed by the inclusion of the IQ.DRIVE suite. This comprehensive package features, Adaptive Cruise Control ACC (with Stop & Go), Area View, Autonomous Emergency Braking Front Assist, Automatic Post-Collision Braking,
Lane Assist/Lane keeping, Park Assist, Side Assist with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Advanced driver attention & drowsiness monitor and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

The latest Touareg models introduced Volkswagen's pioneering safety feature, Front Cross Traffic Assist. This system employs radar to surveil oncoming traffic at junctions from both directions, alerting the driver to potential collision risks. Should the driver not respond, the system initiates automatic emergency braking to prevent accidents.
