Volkswagen Arteon R-Line Interior & Features

The Volkswagen Arteon has a modern cabin that mimics the same impression as that of the exterior – bold yet elegant. The entire cabin has a good mix of black and grey finish, with piano black, chrome and leather inserts just at the right place in the right amount.

The driver’s cockpit, like in all the new generation Volkswagens, looks quite futuristic with a flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel and a full TFT instrument console. The large 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits proudly at the center, garnering the most amount of attraction here. There is a fine horizontal streak running throughout the dashboard, which also houses AC vents and an analog clock in the middle.

The cabin gets a plethora of premium features to start with, such as three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, leather upholstery, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function, an 11-speaker audio system, and more. While the car is quite comfortable for five people, the sloping roofline and high transmission tunnel do eat up space a bit.

Arteon R-Line Exterior

The Volkswagen Arteon is a huge departure from all the previous generation sedans from Volkswagen. It puts form over function, with its coupe-like profile and sharp lines accentuating its sporty appeal, rather than looking understated sedans from Volkswagen in the past.

The sharp essence of the Volkswagen Arteon is immediately recognizable from the front, where the wide three slats horizontally laid chrome grille blends well with the wide twin L-shaped full LED headlamps along with L-shaped daytime running LEDs adjacent to them. The grille further extends on the front bumper as well, with a trapezoidal layout consisting of additional chrome garnishing. The C-shaped wide inserts on the corners of the bumper do come with additional horizontal slats.

Move towards the sides, and the Volkswagen Arteon exhibits its bold side with the slightly coupe-like roofline, which sharply tapers towards the rear. The windows as well as wheelbase look quite long, which further accentuates the length of the car. There is a sharp character line flowing from the edge of the front headlamp all the way to that of the tail lamp at the rear.

At the back, the Volkswagen Arteon looks quite simple yet elegant with its setup of horizontally laid and sleek looking LED tail lamps. The boot lid design looks clean with a large Volkswagen logo sitting in the middle.

Volkswagen Arteon R-Line Ride & Handling

The Volkswagen Arteon gets dynamic chassis control and sports steering, for the best possible sporty experience behind the wheel. Despite its long length and wide stance, the Volkswagen Arteon feels planted to drive, without feeling unsettling at any given point. The ride quality is slightly on a firmer side, but it isn’t harsh by any sense.

Arteon R-Line Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Volkswagen Arteon houses a smooth and rev-happy 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard. The engine is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 190 PS and a peak torque output of 320 Nm. Helping the matters, even more, are the multiple drive modes, which make the performance of the engine eager and responsive as and when needed.

Volkswagen Arteon R-Line Braking & Safety

Being the flagship sedan from Volkswagen, the Arteon gets a host of safety features as standard, such as front, side, curtain, and knee airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, anti-slip regulation, hill hold control, hill start assist and tire pressure monitoring system.

Arteon R-Line Verdict

The Volkswagen Arteon possesses a bold approach towards design in and out, but at the same time, it doesn’t miss out on the old school elegance, for which Volkswagens are generally known for. The lengthy list of features, as well as top-notch fit and finish, do make it feel premium by every bit.
