2018 Honda CB1000R and CB250R launched in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda has launched two naked sports bikes, the 2018 Honda CB1000R and the CB250R in Malaysia on the occasion of Boon Siew Honda Hari Raya media lunch and track event at the Sepang International Circuit.

Showcased at the 2017 EICMA show in Milan, Italy, the CB1000R comes with a 998cc inline four-cylinder engine that churns out a max power of 145 PS at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 104 Nm at 8,250 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. It is the same power mill as seen on the superbike CBR1000R. However, considerable work has been done to tune the engine to match the road conditions. This includes redesigning of the combustion chamber to get more mid-range torque, larger intake and enhanced valve stroke. The pistons are strengthened as well so that they can withstand the harshness the road offers. A 4.5kg lighter 4-2-1 exhaust has been fitted for generating more torque at high revs.

Additionally, the CB1000R comes with four different riding modes - Standard Sport, Rain and User. It has been given the LED treatment at the front as well as at the back. The suspension duties are performed by an adjustable Show Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) front fork and the fully-adjustable Showa monoshock unit at the rear. Braking is courtesy of the 310mm floating twin disc at the front and a single 265mm disc at the rear. It also gets dual-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as standard.
Another naked sports bike shown at the Sepang event was the Honda CB250R. It draws power from a 250cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 27.5 PS of max power at 9,000 rpm and 23.2 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The looks are similar to that of the CB1000R though. It tips the scales at 145kg. The braking duties are handled by a single disc at the front as well as at the rear. Like the CB1000R, it gets ABS as standard.
While the CB1000R is available in two shades - Graphite Black and Candy Chromosphere Red, the CB250R gets an additional Matt Bullet Silver colour choice in addition to the mentioned ones.
The new Honda CB1000R is offered at a price of RM 74,999 while the other quarter-litre sports bike is priced at RM 22,999 (prices does not include road tax, insurance and registration). Both the models will be available at the Boon Siew Honda dealership outlets by July this year. There is an additional two year or 20,000 km manufacturing warranty on the bikes as offered by Boon Siew Honda. So, what are you waiting for? Book your preferred naked sports bike now.
