2023 Yamaha Y15ZR Special Edition launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Last year in December, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor updated the colour palette of the Y15ZR with the addition of cool new colours like Matte Green, Yellow, Silver, and Orange. Well, the automaker now steps up the excitement by introducing a new special edition of its ever-popular 150cc moped!

HLYM has launched the 2023 Yamaha Y15ZR Special Edition in Malaysia, which boasts a sportier and more dynamic appearance. 

The SE version is sprayed with a new blue colour scheme featuring attractive graphics and decals. It comes equipped with an exclusive aero kit, which includes -  

• A visor located on top of the front cowl
• Air scoops positioned on the side of the front as well as the rear cowl

The 2023 Yamaha Y15ZR SE also comes kitted with modern LED headlights consisting of three parts (2 low, 1 high) offering proper lighting during riding. The updated speedometer design features a full LCD metre panel that provides all the important driving-related information in a comprehensive way.

At the core of the special-edition Y15ZR lies the familiar 149.7 cc liquid-cooled, SOHC, single-cylinder engine which generates a maximum power of 15.4 PS at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 13.8 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The power is sent to the ground via a five-speed gearbox paired with a chain final drive system.

The new Y15ZR SE rides on gold-painted 17-inch wheels wrapped with 90/80 front and 120/70 rear tyres. The braking is taken care of by a single hydraulic disc on both ends. Handling the suspension duties are conventional telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. 

The 2023 Yamaha Y15ZR SE is priced at RM 9,498 (excluding road tax, insurance or registration). The price is RM 500 higher than the standard model, which retails at RM 8,998. Included in the price is a two-year or 20,000 km warranty. With every purchase comes a complimentary Yamaha brake disc lock worth RM 100.
