Brazil gets the 2022 Yamaha XMax Darth Vader Edition

KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha's popular maxi scooter XMax gets an exclusive Star Wars attire in Brazil. The model goes with the XMAX Darth Vader Edition and borrows design cues from none other than the legendary villain Darth Vader. Let's know this special twist-and-go scooter in detail, starting with styling.

Styling 

While the original design of the XMax remains unchanged with its sharp lines and aggressive split headlight setup, the scooter gets a new paint job. As mentioned earlier, the new colour scheme is inspired by the Star Wars iconic character. That's a sinister-looking black theme with red accents resembling the character's lightsaber. 

The model also sports Galactic Empire symbols on both sides of the central spine and front mudguard. The former also shows off a graphic of the breathing controls similar to the one available on Vader's chest.

Powertrain

Unfortunately, the mechanical setup of the Yamaha XMAX Darth Vader Edition remains the same as the standard model. It is powered by the same ongoing 250-cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder mill that generates a maximum power output of 22.8 PS at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 24.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The power is sent to the ground with a belt-driven CVT. 

Suspension & braking

The suspension setup of the XMax Darth Vader model also continues to be the same, with a telescopic fork at the front and dual shocks at the rear, offering 110 mm and 79 mm of wheel travel, respectively. As for braking, the same 267 mm/245 mm disc brake setups are on offer. The scooter rolls on the 15-inch front wheel and a 14-inch rear wheel wrapped in Dunlop tyres, just like the standard version.

Price & availability

The 2022 Yamaha XMAX Darth Vader Edition is priced at BRL 28,590 in Brazil, which works out to about RM 26,150. The quantity is limited to just 200 units. 

Unfortunately, the XMax Darth Vader edition is unlikely to grace our market anytime soon. But yeah, the standard avatar is there for us that costs RM 21,225.
