KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Motorrad has expanded its lineup in Malaysia with the launch of two new bikes - 2025 BMW F 900 XR and the 2025 BMW R 12 nineT. With these latest models, the automaker continues to bring premium performance and cutting-edge technology to the local market, catering to the evolving needs of modern riders.

    The all-new F 900 XR hosts a number of technical and visual upgrades, making it a dependable companion for longer rides. Here are the key highlights - 

    Price

    The 2025 BMW F 900 XR is priced at RM 82,500 (on the road, without insurance) in Malaysia.

    Engine and performance

    The long-distance sports bike is powered by a 895-cc, two-cylinder, water-cooled engine producing a maximum power of 105 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 93 Nm at 6,750 rpm.

    Power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed constant-mesh gearbox and multi-disc clutch, offering a smooth power delivery. The F 900 XR runs from zero to 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds and clocks a top speed over 200 kmph.

    Design and features 

    The bike features an aerodynamic front fairing, restyled wind deflector, and hand protectors for better touring comfort. Adding to the sportier appeal and aerodynamics is an engine spoiler painted in Racing Blue Metallic colour.

    The latest model comes equipped with the Headlight Pro system and new function-integrated turn indicator lights. It rides on lighter 17-inch cast aluminium wheels mated to new torsionally rigid, upside-down telescopic forks with adjustable damping and preload.

    Other comfort-enhancing bits include - USB-C port (2.4 A), cruise control, Keyless Ride system and a Rear case holder for luggage.

    Powering this classic-style roadster is a 1,170-cc air-/oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine, which kicks out a maximum power of 109 hp at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed claw-shift gearbox and dry clutch, enabling the bike to hit the century sprint in 3.6 seconds and attain a top speed over 200 kmph.

    Design and features 

    The 2025 BMW R 12 nineT boasts a timeless roadster design with a new tubular bridge steel spaceframe for a lighter, cleaner structure. The rear frame is seamlessly attached to the main frame for a minimalist look. 

    Adding to the premium appeal is an aluminium fuel tank with brushed, clear-coated side panels,  a sleek seat and a tail hump. As for improved ergonomics and control, the rider seat is repositioned closer to the handlebars.
