Maxus MIFA 9

Like the exterior, the cabin of the Maxus Mifa 9 also carries a futuristic but clean vibe. The layout of the cabin is high on visual drama without going too overboard with unnecessarily over-styled elements.

The driver’s cockpit of the Maxus Mifa 9 looks unique with the two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a rectangular, standalone 7-inch full-TFT instrument console behind it. The centre console also looks stylish with a standalone 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which has rounded edges and is placed at the top of the centre console.

The lower centre console here houses touch-sensitive controls for the auto AC, which are placed over a satin silver slim panel. This premium-looking silver panel runs across the width of the dashboard while surrounding the AC vents on the dashboard corners in a wraparound manner. The Maxus Mifa 9 also gets a horizontal tray between the front seats, which houses the transmission knob and a wireless charger.

Being an MPV, the Maxus Mifa 9 is high on practicality and space, which is visible in its supremely comfortable second and third rows of seats. In the second row, the Mifa 9 has powered captain seats with electronically controlled footrests. Other trendy features in the cabin of the Maxus Mifa 9 are touchscreen controllers on the side armrests of rear seats for various in-cabin functions, dual-pane sunroofs, powered, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, massage function for rear seats and foldable table and USB ports.

Rarely does a three-row, family-oriented MPV have a cutting-edge and futuristic design when it hits the production floor while making the transition from the concept form to reality. However, the Maxus Mifa 9 defies this tradition, with its new-age design language that looks futuristic from all angles.

At the front, the Maxus Mifa 9 wears a clean profile, while it missing out on a conventional grille. Instead, it gets a slim trapezoidal black garnish strip running between the curved daytime running LEDs placed on the corners of the fascia. The front bumper of the Maxus Mifa 9 looks large and adds visual bulk to the front profile, particularly due to the positioning of the slim diamond-shaped housings for the LED headlamps on the corner. The front bumper also has a huge trapezoidal air dam in the middle, while the headlamp housings and lower edge of the air dam get chrome inserts for an added premium appeal.

The Maxus Mifa 9 looks boxy and traditional from the side, exhibiting its van-like proportions and sliding door panels to the fullest. The side profile of the Mifa 9 lacks prominent curves and edges, but the van looks premium and high-end with the presence of chrome highlights around the zig-zag window waistline, rear quarter glass panel and bottom of the door panels, and large 19-inch machined alloy wheels.

The rear profile of the Maxus Mifa 9 also looks visually dramatic with its wishbone-shaped LED tail lamps running down vertically. While the tail lamps here come with snazzy-looking LED inserts, they are also connected by a daytime running LED strip running below the rear, almost-vertical windscreen. More chrome can be seen for the slim garnish strip across the width of the rear bumper.

The Maxus Mifa 9 shows the true colours of a traditional MPV even more with its comfort-oriented suspension setup, which is soft enough to not feel wallowing at higher speeds. While the ride quality feels comfortable, the light steering, which is a boon at lower city speeds, can feel unnerving at higher speeds, where the body roll of the vehicle is also more evident.

Both the variants of the Maxus Mifa 9 are powered by a front-mounted electric motor, which is capable of producing 245 PS of maximum power and 350 Nm of maximum torque. With this motor on duty, the Maxus Mifa 9 can do the o-100 kmph run in 9.2 seconds. A 90kWh lithium-ion battery is offered in both the variants of the Maxus Mifa 9, which claims a maximum driving range of up to 580 km.

The basics of the Maxus Mifa 9 when it comes to safety include front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, hill start assist, hill descent control and traction control. However, the Maxus Mifa 9 further stretches the envelope with more premium safety features like adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, emergency lane keeping assist, blind spot detection and tyre pressure monitoring system.

With a new-age design, powertrain and extensive list of features, the Maxus Mifa 9 classifies as a premium MPV for the masses at a relatively affordable price. Keeping aside the diluted driving experience at higher speeds, the Maxus Mifa 9 is a great deal for the sense of comfort and style, on which it is pretty high.
