McLaren Artura

On the inside, the McLaren Artura has a driver-focused cabin layout, which looks minimalist, but highly appealing. The cabin looks very different from what we are used to seeing in supercars, but at the same time, it focuses entirely on sportiness and easy usability of controls.

The flat-bottom steering wheel of the McLaren Artura has carbon fibre-finished spokes, with carbon fibre paddle shifters behind it. Much of the controls are placed on the corners of the housing of the instrument console, which is a full-TFT screen here with multiple display modes.

The highlight of the centre console of this 2-seater sports car has a unique-looking portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system, which has a rounded outer edge and volume controller placed uniquely on it. This screen also features controls for the air conditioning, for which the vents are placed on the top of the centre console in a trapezoidal theme.

Curves, curves and a lot more curves – that’s the best description of the McLaren Artura. Everything on the Artura has a curvy design, which makes it look beautiful and aids it in giving good aerodynamics, especially at towering speeds.

At the front, the McLaren Artura has a slanted bonnet which flows down with power bulges on the sides. The Artura gets boomerang-shaped housings for the LED headlamps, which are positioned in their upper halves, while their lower halves are covered by air vents. The lower part of the front bumper gets a sporty-looking diffuser with air curtains while having a mesh design for the air dam in the middle.

The side profile of the McLaren Artura is highly aerodynamic with many curves. Behind its doors, it gets a hollow air vent to cool the engine and give it an aerodynamic advantage. These air vents are formed from the power curves flowing through the side door panels coming from the front fenders, where the car gets additional small air vents just ahead of the door-mounted rear-view mirrors.

From the air vents behind the door panels, the McLaren Artura gets flared and has well-defined curves flowing over the rear fenders, which merge with the rear profile. These curves flow towards the bottom of the rear windshield, which is compact and ends up with a black portion having vents for breathing the engine. The entire width of the McLaren Artura is covered by a mesh grille, within which the supercar gets thin strips of lighting elements acting as tail lamps of the car. At the bottom, the McLaren Artura has a massive rear diffuser finished in a theme of gloss black, while the exhaust ports are placed slightly above the sides of the license plate housing.

Measuring 4539mm long, 1976mm wide and 1193mm tall, the McLaren Artura gets a double wishbone setup at the front and multi-link at the rear, both of which are fully adjustable with multiple ride modes on offer. However, expect the supercar-levels stiff ride quality in the Artura too, which comes in at the cost of the sure-footed handling it promises. The McLaren Artura drives on 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheels.

Powering the McLaren Artura is a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, which is one of the most powerful V6 engines currently all over the world, thus making the Artura the first-ever McLaren to have a V6 engine. This engine is combined with a 70 kW electric motor, and in combination with this motor, the Artura claims a maximum power output of 680 PS and a peak torque output of 720 Nm. This engine is the first-ever V6 engine in the world to have a bank angle of 120 degrees and is coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. While the McLaren Artura claims a top speed of 330 kmph, it can do 0-100 kmph sprint in 3 seconds.

The prominent safety features offered in the McLaren Artura are front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors and cameras, traction control, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams and road sign recognition.

The Artura is a remarkable product in the history of McLaren, as even after downsizing to a V6 engine, it hasn’t compromised on the exhilarating performance and driving dynamics associated with a bigger V8 supercar. Adding in the exotic design and cool and unique interiors, the McLaren Artura is a supercar for the younger masses.
